You just got to love it when you hear that Wal-mart is going to get a great big smack from the U.S. justice system , according to what I heard on the news the other day their employees in Oregon won a class action suit against them for being forced to work overtime without pay. It's in violation of national labour laws, and they will have to pay all those employees backpay , interest, punitive damages and costs. Not to mention the fine that is going to be imposed by the court. Guess what kiddies , they have over 100 other suits filed against them by other employees, I bet the prices won't be falling any more, I guess we all now know how they got to the position they occupy in the marketplace, on the backs of their employees and in violation of the law. I wonder if ole' Sam is turning over in his grave.

One of our customers just left...

saying that several of her "friends" at WalMart have been let go prematurely, without any real reasons, and because they were part time, they have little recourse, BUT, besides that, ALL the staff was assembled yesterday morning and "TOLD" that for the first time in HISTORY, that WalMart has had a losing quarter, and that some changes were imminent!!..which set off a chain reaction, and some of their employees booked off sick with "benefits".
Sam WILL BE rolling over in his grave, BECAUSE, he was a man of principles, of good judgement, and good common sense...sadly lacking in todays corporate environment...lets see how long all those SMART, HIGHLY EDUCATED "advisers" keep the company afloat without Sam's "roll up the sleeves" attitude!!

Its enevitalbe that many of the big box stores too, will hit bottom, and have to adjust just like we did last year....

They can not continue to operate like they used to...and....

WE will rise again !

I never get paid overtime and I don't work for Walmart. However, the rules here are different. It will be nice to see the independents rule again.

M.C. and H.N.Y. (too tired to long form it.) :)

More great news. The largest employer in New Hampshire (after state government) is...
Wal*Mart!
A year ago they were #2.
When employees talk about getting this and that at Wal*Mart I remind them that, if they do all their shopping at Wal*Mart and ignore the local retailers, the chances are good that they will end up wearing smiley-faces on their backs as they work at Wally's... because that will be the only place left.

Prior to becoming a florist I was a corporate manager for a large kitchen ware manufacturing company. That company's single biggest customer was Wal Mart and I'll tell you that they were difficult to deal with. It was their way or the hiway. We also hired alot of ex Wally world employees and with out exception they HATED Wal Mart. All of those ads going on about how much they value their employees. What a load.
The one thing about Wally World having problems is the fact that being as big as they are and also being THE major employer in many small towns, this could have a really big negative impact on alot of local economies. I personally think that Wal mart is helping to destroy small town America...

I agree Jim...I'm always for the towns who fight AGAINST Walmart's invasion.

I concur, but alas it was the promise of jobs that allowed Wally to take over many small towns...

What they did not think about, was that there would be alot of other folks, laying people off, cuz Wally got the biz, and did not hire as many as they said they would in the begining...

In many places around the country, they are converting old malls into condo communities, and this trend will continue, as....

WE rise again !

We're getting one here, one of the deals was that they had to reduce size, they couldn't have the big box style they wanted and they couldn't open their doors until AFTER xmas.

When it became known that they were considering opening for Xmas, our council came down on them like a ton of bricks. We get them as in January, I won't set foot in the store. Have no respect for them or their policies.
