Hi, I am Karen Rutledge Flowershop Owner
Salinas, CA
I have an associate of science degree and I have a very unusual story about getting into the flower business. My husband decided I needed something to keep myself busy. He found a nice little building off of main street that was for sale. It turned out to be a flower shop. It took me at least 6 months before I got the nerve to go in and talk to the owner. I spent 1 week with him and I was hooked. I fell in love with this flowershop and found a way to purchase the business. Now, 5 years and a lot of gray hair later, I have just launched my second flower shop. Things are rough today, but I do know I love the flower business.

The previous owner helped me for a month. Then I was on my own. There were no employees except for him.
