I was so close to the month of no smoking till yesterday, so now i am back to square one! I don't want a lecture or told you so from anyone please , here is the story
Got a phone call at 1:15 pm Gramma yes pause hard to hear its echoing Adam is that you , yes , whats wrong. I'm in trouble , what do you mean , well we went to Toronto for a wedding Wed night and where on the way back to motel when i got pulled over, hmm ok. And then what happened Adam, well i was charged with DUI , OMG Adam how could you. OK so where are you , in jail , Where's Jen in a motel .Oh god . OK what are you calling me for well i need bail money , i had gics' etc but i can't get to them in jail, ok how much we talking about , well my lawyer is here can you talk to him, yes anyways to make long short lawyer says Adams bail is $4900.00 i almost Sh--, ok so head to western union get money order sent out. Then 45 minutes later i think omg Jen is still in motel room , thank god i have her cell . call her , Jen yes i posted Adam's bail for him . HUH!! i said Adam's in jail , no im going to get him from work right now. WELL @@@@ ME., grab one of hubbys smokes and smoked it called western union and it hadn't been picked up yet so hour on phone to secure my money back , when it was completed i was told to call fraud divison and report it. He said well im sorry you lost your money , UHHHH no i didnt i got all my money back he said lady you are one of the lucky ones((((((YEAH))))) . I'm still wanting to puke ,I would have sworn on a stack of bibles it was our grandson on the phone , but i was wrong but i sure as hell would like 2 mintues with the S.O.B.'S.So Mikey your perch dinner is safe till aug 23!!
Still this am i have a raging headache so please tell everyone about the Grandparent scam because they are VERY GOOD!!! DAM their sorry asses!!!

The question is, who knew Jen and Adams names? Who knew the details of their travel... seems to me that it had to be someone who knew them.... and you to get your number...

I've read of this scam going around (may have been the AARP mag) They target grparents who may or may not be aware of where exactly their Grandkids my be - traveling, home etc.

Then the scenario is textbook to what Joanne wrote EXCEPT she got her $$ back. YEAH you!

It was one small mis-step Joanne. Don't dwell on it and move forward.

As for the fraud. Holy crap. That's scary to me. So glad you didn't get burned for the money!

Sorry this almost happened to you, glad you corrected the problem before it became one...

The thing that irks me the most about crap like this is the fact that these scemes are so brilliantly planned out... if these people actually used their plans for good our world woul be such a better place, i can only imagine the creative solutions to common problems these people could come up with to better the world instead they use it for their own gain at other peoples expense probably all the while sitting aroung collecting a government check costing those same people even more money...such a shame and waste of a perfectly talented mind for the greater good...

Oh yeah and the smoking thing almost secondary to the almost being beat for money...there is always now to keep quitting...if you keep quitting you can never lose...just don't ever give up and you will always be on the road to winning...oh god, I am just a wealth of positive thinking, give me anything lately and I will put a positive spin on it...try me...

no in all seriousness, coming from a point 2 years ago, when I had given up on losing weight, on having a baby, on being anything but average or less, I believe 100% what I just said and if you believe it you have nowhere to go but up...we are human and humans make mistakes, it is how you feel about those mistakes that define who we are and who we become, learn from them, striveto grow frm them and you will always be better for it tomorrow than you are today, let them win and conquer you there is nowhere to go but down....

Listen, don't beat yourself up about the smoking thing. Begin again. Don't look back. It isn't going to be all easy breezy.

It's all good. :)

No Mark i provided the names he stalled long enough for me to say Adam . and i asked where is Jen. As for the Toronto thing he said they went there cuse a buddy was getting married. Oh yeah and money is back in the Bank!!!!

AND????......the "moral" of this story is 1) I KNEW you couldn't do it, and 2)we refuse to let one anxious moment spoil a good perch dinner...are you game??

Joanne -

What a horrid story! Who could blame you for grabbing a cigarette? (I still smoke, and my downfall when trying to quit has always been an "emotional setback")

Easy for ME to say, but get back on the wagon - remember all the good /positive things about being a non-smoker - I'm rootin' for ya!

Your situation could have been A LOT worse.

This happened to my uncle. Except they got a hold of his money before he realized what was going on. And it was quite a bit more then $5000. These people knew information that I don't even know about my own family. First off these people spoke another language, they knew names of aunts and uncles that have passed away a long time ago, ages of other family members, they even knew names of the little villages that my mom, uncle and the rest of the family lived in in Europe over 40 years ago. I couldn't believe it...
