I took the night off from work and went to see King Kong last night. It was very good. I laughed, I cried, I jumped, I cringed, I cried some more and in the end, it was different than I thought it would be... it was actually a good movie and not carried by the special effects like I had assumed.

There is an insect part that will give you the heebie jeebies for sure. I've never cringed like that before in a movie.

The only part of the movie I disliked was Jimmy. It said he was from some wild place and made you think it was skull island, but in fact, he was from Philly. lol (just kidding) Plus I thought Jimmy was very annoying.

flowers in the movies

While we're talking King Kong, etc., I'm working up an article about flowers in film. I think of Alfred Hitchcock (the Hoogasian flower stand in Vertigo, the flower market in Nice in To Catch a Thief), and would love recommendations of scenes from the movies -- or even entire movies -- that accentuate flowers.

I think the biopic Frida had especially beautiful flowers also, but am hoping for examples where the blooms are more than atmospheric.

Thanks for any and all leads.

Merry Christmas
Happy Hanukkah
Bright Solstice!

A Bed of Roses. Mary Stuart Masterson and ????

Pretty Woman had Richard Gere stopping at a flower stand end of movie picking up a rose.

although not a movie.....

The episode of "Judging Amy" when she called off her wedding a couple of years ago ....... the flowers in the church and the bouquets were some of the most beautiful wedding flowers I had ever seen. Tried to get some pictures from CBS but didn't get too far.

What about all the vases of cut flowers in the apartment in "Three Men and A Baby" ... especially the scene when Tom Seleck is in the kitchen ... you can see 5 large vases of flowers .... one was all dendrobiums, each of the rest all exotics. Impressive for the men to have so many flowers in their abode.

As for movie names .... what about ..... "THE ROSE" with the divine Miss M

Flower movie

A Night at the Roxbury. Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan work at a florist and there are a few funny scenes. One where they are loading the van, just throwing these huge arrangements in the van while they have a discussion. Hilarious!
