knot wedding trends

I think we could all probably agree that most independant minded brides are going to choose colors they love not what's "trendy" (that's if they have an independant brain). I don't think we've had brides here follow a trend in 25 years (that was the mint green and yellow trend)

As far as wedding trends.....I can't hardly wait for the flowing cascade to come back into vogue......AM I the only one sick and tired of those little round Martha handtieds?

I think nearly all of the bridal bouquets I've done this last year have been cascades!! Kind of odd, since I'm in the midwest, but my brides have been requesting them more, I think they're even tired of the Martha handtieds and want something "different". I've also had requests for more of the miss america arm bouquets for bridesmaids--not my favorite look for bridesmaids but at least quick & easy! Silks seem to be on the up-swing too--I have 4 weddings scheduled for June 21st and only one is fresh (thank God!).

dream wedding

Did you see the wedding Martha sponsored, based on the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's?

Wouldn't you love this challenge? I know my table decorations wouldn't be ice cream cones...guess you had to see the picture.

My dream wedding would be for the bride to plunk down some bucks and say...have fun.

Yes that would be a dream come true.I'd go crazy picking everything out, what fun!
But then I'd awake to "Sorry the weddings off"

Ha! Chocolate is just coming in where I'm at... we are so behind. The problem is, by the time my brides are choosing the latest trend, I am sick of it because I have been looking at it in magazines and such. We are also just getting into the all green bouquets. What colors are you guys mostly seeing now?

We just did a wedding show and quite a few of the bides were talking silver with most anything, maybe it is replacing brown in this area? Last year we did quite a bit of brown and green in weddings.

We are seeing lots and lots of blue. Our first bridal show of the year is this weekend, so I will know more very soon. Brown is still very much in.

And I loathe David's Bridal/Bridal Wearhouse. They are to independent wedding botiques what Wal Mart is to small town retailers. Any time I have a bride with a gown from Davids,(and its gotten to the point where I specifically ASK!!) I am sure to bring tons of huge safety pins. If the train does actually bustle, it is sure to fall apart before the second dance. I have spent more time with my head stuffed in a bustle than I care to think about. David's Bridal is pathetic.

Yes, I am also weary of the Martha-wads. I have been updating them with decorative bullion and bling-like corsage pins, and broaches, or little balls of moss or blooms wrapped in bullion.

I am ready for cascades to return, too.

The european style cresents to carry are incredible; I love European design. Moniek Vanden Berghe does incredible wedding work. I try to incorporate her touches when I can. The textures she uses are inspiring.

I am just glad the lavender thing seems over.

Green, and green/brown or green/pink is still very big.

just talked to a bride (who had a Davids bridal swatch - cost her $1 btw) the dress color is Blue Velvet (matches navy of our satin swatches) I told her mom she could have that song played at the reception. The bride looked at us like we were nuts but the mom and I had a good laugh.

The flowers will have a hint of silver and lots of summer foliages (we grow our own) and are Cascades.

Charging for swatches...our local small town bridals shops give them for FREE.

My wedding was navy, 16 years ago. Guess thats coming back?

I am so sick of chocolate - I could puke . . .

who would have thought I would ever say that! but I encourage them to look beyond the chocolate and blue - could there be a more limited color palate than blue and brown??? when I was at market last I saw alot of chocolate and lavender - better flower selection at least!

I did a show last weekend and here in MI... chartreuse green, Fushia, bright yellow, mixed with orange and a lot of tropicals.. the brides loved it..and we are about two years behind!!

It's not chocolate, ..."it's moooww-ka" (spelled mocah) I heard that at a design show and it cracks me up. Mocah is much more sophisticated than chocolate, doncha know!

Chocolate and lavender would make me not loathe lavender so much. That's a good upgrade for me! Now I just have to sell it to some unsuspecting bride...hee hee hee! "Mow-kah" and lavender...love, love love it.

I wish we were only 2 years behind here in the cornfield...I should be so lucky!

We did a "mocha" and lavender wedding here last fall. I was initially skeptical, but it was one of the prettiest weddings we've ever done!

And we're not in the cornfield, but we are in a tiny cowtown...:thumbsup

I had a bride in Saturday and she requested a cascade and I almost kissed her. Although I'm tired of the same old hand tied, they are quicker than a cascade. So why do I want to go back to cascade????????

This was just a topic on another board about cascade. what style do you think they will come back as? big and lush. all the way to the ground? here is a pic of mine 9 years ago what was I thinking!!!
