According to this morning's news.....A welcome bit of news concerning the economy. It seems that citibank has declared a moratorium on foreclosure. As I understood it, they are reducing rates, re-financing, re-structuring existing loans, etc...... all in an effort to keep from foreclosing and keeping people in their homes.

Mark my words.....things like this will stick out in peoples minds.....When this economic crises does end.......I got that feeling that citibank will end up being the lender of choice for many people and they will emerge stronger than ever.

That's great and sad at the same time. Imagine those people who had gotten their house foreclosed on by citibank before this moratorium...I don't think they would be happy to hear this news. Too bad companies didn't think of this sooner.

It is good news and thanks for bringing it to people's attention. While it may be too late for some, it's won't be too late for all, and that is a good thing.

IMO... Citibank, while being proactive with this move, is simply trying to beat the Federal Government mandate that will be coming in the New Year...

Still... a good thing for those with Citibank.

Your probably right - However, the critical thing is that citibank made the first move.....and that is what counts in peoples minds. I'd almost be willing to wager that citibank will emerge from this stronger, more profitable, and bigger than they ever were.

I don't find that sad at all - I think it's about freaking time.

I find it a bit sad someone would think they shouldn't. You like your money being spent in Iraq?

How about stop sending money to hostile countries and take care of our own people?

Just for a start and what a concept.

What a difference a week makes....

CitiGroup has so far ditched 73,000 employees this year... and is now poised to be the recipient of the latest Federal bailout...

Looks like this one's bigger than FreddieFan and will take a bunch of cash to stabilize (not save) the company...

More to follow...

and this is what makes you, bloomz the monkey, a socialist who needs someone/something (that being the government) to take care of him because you can't/won't/refuse/feel you deserve to be taken care of yourself.

if you don't recall, but surely i can refresh your memory, as you must have learned in grammar school (you did attend a "free" American school didn't you?) when studying the Constitution, it is the duty of the USA and it's citizens to, when necessary or possible, we should spread democracy throughout the world.

"Just for a start and what a concept."

EVERY CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA HAS THEIR OWN OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE CARE OF HIS OR HER OWN SELF. DUH. That's what this country is all about, or maybe you missed that part in school.

Uh, excuse me but where do you get the concept of a "Free American school"? I pay through the nose in my property taxes for schools. I certainly would not condsider $6000 a year in school taxes "free".

I don't even have kids and I pay this every year. I can tell you that 40 years ago when I was attending school, $6K a year would have put me in one of the best private schools around.

Nothing is free in this country. It is all a matter of how you are paying for it.

What gives you the idea I need that Sharon?

I seem to be running a quite successful business and holding my own in spite of government interference in many things financial, and utterly ridiculous prices of some things that once were reasonable back oh about 8 years ago (just so spell it out, cuz, well, you know - gas and health care are good starts)

But there are many people who do need it and I am all for supplying their needs, yes over and above the needs of the Iraqi people or the executives of Exxon and Haliburton.

Guess that makes me a pinko...I care about America and America's people.

I'm kewl with being misunderstood - I'm not really that deep so I'm not sure what that says for the "misunderstand-er".....but I don't think it's a gold star or anything like that.

Oh - Here's your sign!

Another WTF?

CitiBank plans to go ahead with the naming rights for Citi Field at a cost of $400,000,000.00 in New York for the Mets, at the same time they are asking the Feds to bail them out.

On top of the layoff's...

Why the hell should the Feds even be talking to these greedy folks?
