A continuation of THIS thread.

Thanks to those who have continued prayers and concerns. (you know who you are:))

Erin finally completed all tests for the treatment at Cedar-Sinai.
She heard today. . . . . .SHE IS ACCEPTED into their program. We are excited about this long (seems like an eternity) awaited call.

She has had a struggle since October. About 10 surgeries for de-clotting of her newest graft. Then two weeks ago another temporary port.

Doc told her straight up, she is on borrowed time (running out of access points). He has been very supportive of the C-S treatment.

Her brother and I will be submitted as candidates to donate. Have to see if tests we have had run so far are good or it they need more.

Thought you all would like to share in the GOOD NEWS with us.

Glenn, my thoughts and prayers are with you also. I haven't read all the posts yet to know the history, but I do know a tiny bit about "Her creatinine levels (a blood test that shows filtering capability) were elevated to the point that she will be needing to go on dialysis soon" ....
May all the positive forces in the world and within and beyond be with Erin and her family.

big hurdle over - now on to the process
Best wishes for you all.

Glenn, we wait for that sustained miracle, for Erin, and for your family.
There is none stronger, or braver, than those willing to lay their life in the path of another....
Glenn, this is significant...we clench with thee!!

My prayers are with you

Glenn, thank you for this update! Prayers continue for your brave and precious Erin, for you, and all of your family.

Glenn this is good news...may the wait not be long for you all. Prayers are amazing aren;t they and the power behind them even more so. Blessings to your whole family as well as the donor who will be there for Erin.

She

She has abilities you never knew, or thought she had. Be confident in her, and all around her.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop Glenn. Sometimes in the hustle of our lives we forget about those of us with challenges and struggles.

I'm happy for you and your family and please keep us posted. As always you're all in my thoughts.

Update . . . .

Some have been keeping up. Some have asked for an update.
Thanks to all for the continued prayers and thoughts.

We had to go through another little battle the last week of Jan. Erin developed a 6" blod clot in her left leg behind the knee. She started experiencing some leg pain after Thanksgiving. Had surgery expecting the need of a by-pass (where they take a vein from somewhere and implant around the clot). The docs said it was inevitable. BUT. . .Thank the Lord, they were able to remove the clot, much to the docs amazement (he wouldn't call it a miracle). So instead of two big scars, she only has one about 4" long.

She was well enough to help at Vday and is doing okay now.

I am still working my way through the system being considered as a donor.

We don't have a time frame yet. . . just staying in contact with coordinators at Cedar-Sinai submitting medical history etc.

Thanks for the update Glenn. It is an arduous journey you are all having. Please know you have many friends here who are collectively sending all good thoughts your way.

Doctor, I am not, but. . .

He said they clipped (half way through) the artery before and after the clot and used a type of angioplasty (enlarging of the artery) enough to remove it.
He said the amazing part was, it had not adhered to the artery wall, being a rather old clot.

Like I said, he would not call it a miracle. . . .

She has been our miracle child more than once. . .we should really write a book. Actually, her case has been written up in clinical studies a couple times.

When I get home tonight, I'll post a picture of her, you would never know there was anything wrong with the girl.

Wow, that is so scary.. that is a heck of a big clot. I am so glad they got it out and she'd doing well. Can't wait to see a pic of her!

Glenn, You and your family are in my thoughts, prayers, and meditations.
