Let Google Know The Geographic Location of Your Site

Now there's a way to help avoid this type of guesswork, at least with Google. If you want to let Google know the location of your site, simply log in to the Google Webmaster Tools component of Google Webmaster Central.

Access the Tools tab, then choose Set Geographic Target. From there, you can provide information about where the site is located, and Google will use this information as a signal in ranking.

Eric - might this do the trick for the Map Plus Box?

I know the OG's who have advertised as being a local neighborhood florist in our town are listed at streets that do not even exist in our community. (maple, elm, oak are 3) They will have to get more creative...

FYI - I added the geo location for Martin's on Friday.

As of today, we have seen improvements on seven local searches since Friday. We can never say for certain, but this seems to be a great tool to use to boost your local relevance.
