Hi all,

We have just started a "Link to Us" page on our website to coincide with the development of our new brand/logo.

You or your webmaster only has to copy the HTML Code on the Link to Us page or from below, paste the code to the site, and you have now linked to us!

HTML:
<a href="http://www.dragonflyflowers.com/" target="_top"><img src="http://www.dragonflyflowers.com/images/winnipeg_florist_p5ac.png" border="0" alt="DragonflyFlowers.com - Winnipeg's Favorite Local Florist"></a><br />

Anyone that links to us will get a reciprocal link on our Florists Links Page.

It will look just like this on your site, and link back to Dragonflyflowers.com.

You can use the code above to create an Link to Us HTML code for your own web site, by inserting your own shop URL, the link to your logo, and your own alt (alternate) text.

<a href="http://www.yourflowershop.com/" target="_top"><img src="http://www.yourflowershop.com/images/yourlogo.png" border="0" alt="Your chose alternate text"></a><br />

Thanks to any takers! See you in the SERPS!

I'll have my husband (who developed our site) do that. Thank you!

It's a nice thought, but I'm not sure how much good it will do in the long run. Google is known to devalue or ignore links coming from obivous link pages: you know, pages with "links" in the url and/or title. Also, the Add Your URL For Free is a big red flag. Not to mention the sudden growth in links with all the same anchor text.

I'd suggest cleaning up the page, calling it something that doesn't sound like a links page, and removing even the hint of solicited / freely given / reciprocal links.

Duane -

I agree with Ryan. Call it 'Recommended Local Florists' or 'Preferred Local Flower Delivery Specialists' instead of 'Links'. Be sure to vary the anchor text for inbounds, too since too many new ones with the same wording can devalue the inbound links - and make them look like manipulation.

For JB, as to 'why'... I think you know. ;) Links are the lifeblood of the web, but not all created equal. There are very, very few floral industry sites with high PR, but a bunch of links from quality, lower PR sites can help boost perceived relevance and positioning.

You know what my why meant - why would I not want to handle the order for anyone who found my site myself?

My internet work is not a hobby for me but a vital part of my business.

Not inferring necessarily anyone else's is, but mine certainly isn't. And "let's all link to each other" does not fit with what I do.

No offense intended to Duane, or anyone else.

but

opinions vary...

I agree with you, but it can't hurt, so why not?

Agreed, makes sense to me, I will do that and try take the time to clean up the page. Thanks Ryan and Cathy for that tip.

Hope it's ok that I am doing text links for everyone, rather than logos....just for a consistent look. This will be a work in progress. I don't mind people finding you guys direct thru me. I think this is a great idea. Hope it helps us all!

Just to be sure...

This Is the page?
http://www.dragonflyflowers.com/Link_to_Us.html

Where is your page to link back to these shops that have so kindly linked to you? Generally, I have always thought these things were a "Reciprocal Link" Sort of thing?

You know, quid pro quo.

What exactly are you asking for before we consider adding any sort of links page?
