The first thing that would do as you stated would be to kill the order gatherers, in the Bloomnet stable... you know, folks like Kremp Florists, HonestFlorist, and the many others masquerading as local florists with bogus advertisements in local phone books and web searches.

Welcome to our community, you will get an ear full here... and I seriously doubt that Bloomnet has the Real Florists best interests at heart, even a smidgen.

Welcome,
I won't say much............but you'll read alot and learn alot, wether you can effect change is another story........

Hi Lisa......"effecting change" means EVERYONE needs to change, INCLUDING BloomNet.....if you read some of the threads, we have "sporadic" dialogue about the effects of "stabling" massive order gathering sites, and from OUR perspective, the collateral damage is NOT an easy thing to live down.....but, carry on!!
Nice to have you here, hope you feel the same way!

how BloomNet can develop new products, services and education to support retail florists profitability ....
My two cents, after you do as BOSS suggests, develop products that reflect a realistic mark-up of 3-3.5X, labor rate of at least 25% and payment of full delivery fees (ala bBrooks).
As to the growth of the industry, stop enticing consumers with dirt cheap, drop-ship items particularly leading up to holidays, leaving all your member florists scrambling and inundated to accept only all last minutes orders. OK, I'm done now.
