A closer Look at the Local Search Data Providers.

Baffled why your local listing in Google, Yahoo or Bing shows the wrong phone number, incorrect address or wrong web address? Here's a trail of just who feeds information to whom.

You can often correct an error at the end site - like Google Local - but see it keep coming back. Unless the data is corrected at the source (generally Acxiom, Localeeze or InfoUSA) plan on repeating the fix-ups for a long, long time.

Universal Business Listing (you've probably seen the ads here at FC) is a trusted data provider and well worth the low annual fees to help keep your listing accurate.

Interesting charts. Hope you have a look. Bookmark the page and hope you never need it. :)

Thank you!!!

Someone somewhere got our home number and is listing it as our business. It's driving me crazy, especially since I am on state and federal "Do not call lists" at home, but everyone disregards this, since they think we are a business.

I've taken it up with Verizon, Google, etc. to no avail. Hope this allows me to clean up the data.

Thanks so much for this information. I am working on improving results for a business listing other that the shop. Lots of good stuff here!:yourock:
