Locking Gas Caps

Just a little reminder that as gas gets more expensive, gas thefts go up dramatically. A locking gas cap is pretty inexpensive insurance.

Pretty lucky here, one of the companies that shares my parking lot is a security/alarm company...they have the lot covered by 3 moving cameras on the roof...

A while back, I had a problem with skate boarders using my front planter for a ramp... I put up a sign that said : You ARE on WebCam! Skate Boarding not allowed. That took care of that problem.

Some vehicles now a days have anti-siphoning valves in the gas tank lines. I know my old Chevy TrailBlazer did...

But, yes - you gotta wonder!

We've had gas lines cut from under the vans. Causes a quick $200 repair bill.

One of our drivers unknowingly took a van with a cut gas line to the gas station to fill up and before he knew it had spilled several gallons of fuel. That cost us several thousand in hazmat bills.

Oh yeah, 3 months ago started noticing gas gauge was going down quickly. Thought about that for a few weeks, kept happening. Then got a locking gas cap. Better for a few weeks-then one day noticed pry marks on it. Last week someone popped the entire cylinder out of the gas cap!!! Now we are rigging up a video camera. Can't wait to find out who is doing this! They come between 4-6AM. I think it must be someone my dog is aquainted with since she hasen't alerted at all. They never go to my kids cars which are right under my bedroom window. Aparrently they have been hitting my rear neighbor too. I wish they'd get a :scooter:

I would be sleeping in the car and waiting. Just the look in their eyes when the flashlight hit them would be priceless.lol
