My friend/customer just called and asked if we have glycerin leaves because her source went out of business. We have never even heard of them. Anyone know where I can send her?

Most likely it is Knud Nielson - Transparent Oak is how it is marketed.

Other Dried Flower farms/suppliers should have the same or similar - Schusters, Sluder, etc.

Glycerin is used to preserve flowers/leaves that keeps them pliable (unlike drying the flowers/leaves.) The flowers/leaves "drink" the glycerin. It's kind of like embalming fluid. I'm sure that's what your customer was referring to - the Transparent Oak we use in fall arrangements mentioned above.

glycerin treated

did you know you can take gyp ( haven't tried any other flower) re cut it and put it in anti-freeze and it will do the same thing as glycerin.

I'll give that a try.

While I did not know the anti-freeze technique on gyp..........I know it has a beneficial effect on Snapdragons........somehow one of the chemicals in anti-freeze helps to retard blooms falling off.

I will caution about anti-freeze. If you have animals that you love, DO NOT LET THEM GET NEAR IT........If they drink it, It is a terrible poison to them. For you Doggy and Kitty Mama's and Papa's- best to avoid anti-freeze all together except for your car. You don't want your babies hurt.
