We just bought a long standing Florist Shop in our town. It is new to us and so exciting. There is so much to learn so I am hoping this site will help us. So far we are having a great time and trying to learn as fast as possible. There is so much to know! Our store has been open for 27 years and has a great reputation so we hope that will keep the customers continuing to come in and call. We have decided to do modifications of course so we are using a computer system, Quickbooks and Quickbooks Point of Sale. That seems to be the biggest challenge to employees who have been here for a long time.

HEY... another Michigander!!! Welcome... we'll be taking over soon!

Being one that used to install and train shops on floral computer systems, I'll tell you, they WILL get used to it! One shop I did years ago, the older staff refused to touch the computers, imagine their fear one morning when they came in and every pen, pencil and piece of paper was removed from the building... yep, I did do that in Columbus once...

Give me a ring if you have any questions about the computer roll out... and by clicking on my name here, you can send me a PM (private message) anytime, I'm *almost* always here...

Enjoy~!

Welcome neighbour (to Ontario). :)

I am going to ask - What made you decide to purchase a flower shop? Have you had any prior experience in the floral industry?

I didn't know quick books had a POS. Does it have special florist software that deals with the unique aspects of retail flower shops? Like incoming orders from other florists , direct or by wire, just to name one?

Quick Books is a straight POS, but, does have marketing capabilites. It has truly simplified my life as the POS transfers at end of day to the financial system seemlessly. I am a small shop without a wire service, I use Mapquest to route my deliveries.
