I just watched a wacky movie - "Making Arrangements"... a "mockumentary" of four days in the back-room of a high-end flower shop.

They're all there - the gay designer, the prima donna, driver-dude, harried owner, picky customers, brides, funerals, flower shortages...

We're screening this film this weekend, at our New Hampshire State Florists' "Summer Sizzler" Convention.

Alot of "f" bombs - but that sounds like many designers I know.

I hope you all get a chance to see this movie - I think Mel, the writer, would love more exposure -

Valerie

Thanks Valerie :) Is there a way we can DL the movie and watch it? I couldn't find it on their website.

OH and I love this arragement on their site:

I was wondering when someone was going to make a movie about this.
Cool!

Price and Availability

the price of the video. It says you can pre-book but they don't mention price.

Clay,

Thanks for your interest in the film. The DVD will be released on Sept. 15th through a company called IndieFlix. The DVD is $9.99 and can be purchased through their website at www.indieflix.com. This is a brand new company ... they open for business on Sept. 15th, so if the website doesn't have what you are looking for today, don't despair! They should be up soon.

Thanks again,
Melissa Scaramucci

A couple of extra copies

I had contacted Melissa on sending me 10 copies direct to the SAF Convention since Indieflix was running a little behind on the website shopping cart. I have several left over, if anyone is interested, just send me a PM. Just need to cover my cost of $9.99 and then the cost of shipping to your shop. Thanks.

As stated in the first post, it is a "mockumentary" but Mel did a good job capturing all of the "drama" from employees to customers. In fact, I thought the script and acting was so good on so many of day to day "events" going on in the back design room, I swore the persons in the film were real florists. While the F words used represent some of the things I (and maybe some of our employees) would like to say some times, our shop has more self controll. I would like to show the film to some of my employees, but some would be offended by some of that......wished they sold a second version with them bleeped out like all of the reality TV shows....it still gets the point across. I believe that SAF has interviewed Mel for a short article coming out in November.

Got a copy of this from clay (Thanks Clay). Finally got a chance to see it over the weekend. Parts of It were very funny. It must have been shot in the biggest flowershop ever, couldn't even count how many coolers they had. Glad to say while our shop has it's moments- we are not nearly as looney as that bunch!

I think the "producer" said that it took 13 Sundays to film it in the local flower shop. One problem they had was it was a working flower shop and things would sell from the front and displays during the week, it was hard to keep the front "shots" consistant. Also, they had to remake the wedding arrangements many times, as that scene took more than one Sunday to shoot.

Yea, I know what you mean. I thought we had plenty of "drama" in our shop, but I wanted to go hug the employees after seeing this film.

Well I finally watched this fiasco last night....

All I can say....is....................

I'm glad they are not MY employees!!! What a bunch...there were a couple I would hire....and one blond I would bit*h slap....

My store has and still sees its share of *drama* but it's gotten so much better since we started mandatory Friday lunch bull sessions...

Only thing I question was who the hell was responsible for orders the product??? Fire 'em!

Still got several copies left if anybody is interested.

I agree on the drama .....but in different parts of the film, I could have sworn that they were real florists and this was a reality show.
