Fall , how can anyone not love the colours that we are able to work with now. With this being our Thanksgiving , we went and bought real pumpkins , cleaned them out , bought 6"plastic plates from Dollar store , made arrangements in the pumpkins, attached dried oak leaves around the plate, and as fast as we are making them they are heading out the door , or being delivered.I put one in local Pharmacy and my Bank with business cards on it . Pumpkins price .50-1.00 plates 1.00 , Sure is a good money maker and its almost all bio-degradeable Have a Good Holiday Fellow Canadians!!! Joanne

I also love this time of year, brings back great memories of childhood in northern New Jersey, fall colors and crisp weather. Here we just hope for the temp to drop under 90! But, I got in great fall stuff this week beautiful colors, berries and the likes- what a pleasure. We will be having 20 (yikes) kids in the store Monday afternoon to make the arrangements you described in a pumpkin. Haven't quite figured out where to put all the kids yet but they are really excited about the class. We do one each month for the homeschool assoc kids and usually have about 12 sign up! 20 is a record--I predict alot of advil will be coming my way Mon evening!

Happy Thanksgiving to you too Joanne, and all the rest of us here in the True North Strong and Free!
I love autumn too; only thing I don't like about it is it eventually becomes winter! :)
We've been celebrating our 20th Anniversary in this industry as of Sep 30 with a promo running to tomorrow, Thanksgiving Saturday. To closing time this evening, it has been the best Thanksgiving sales-wise in our history.
We got the local radio station on side with them running a 20 DAY CONTEST for us which will end with the 20th daily draw of a fresh flower bouquet Oct 27 and the grand prize draw of Flowers for the next year (6 occ) for a few hundred loonies and us supplying them with 25 bouquets for their 25th anniversary today. After the end of October I'll post the list from the contest - "Your best reason for sending or having received flowers". Should be interesting!!!

Congratulations Hugh on your 20th anniversary.... well done!

I too love fall, although today is actually the first day in lovely SW Ontario, where it's felt like fall. It's been balmy and summer-like. I like that too.

Joanne, I'm up to my neck in pumpkin arrangements... I don't like pumpkin, the smell turns my tummy inside out and upside down. But, like a trooper I finished them all and yes, they are selling. I had one of my favourite customers (very Margaret Thatcher) in yesterday... she's all about "porcelain colours" and declared the pumpkins arrangement to have "rather lurid colours". I love her anyway. :)

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends. I send all good and warm thoughts your way.

Fall is my probably my favorite time for decorating with flowers.

October is usually our biggest tourist and wedding month. I love what you can do with fall colors in old country churches and restored antique homes. Fall wedding themes in old country churches (and many newer ones) have an almost miraculous way of capturing light and colors from the large windows and bringing out the warmth of the wood finishes in the churches.
