hello, this is my first time here - just checking things out. my wife and i are interested in possibly purchasing a flower shop in the near future. we don't have much experience so we are searching the web to get an idea of what we may be in for. we both have full time jobs that we would have to give up so we are hesitant to pull the trigger. we do not have children so we could survive a while on our savings until we hopefully start to profit. thanks, have a great day.

Hello Matt...

You're either really brave, a risk taker or you've lost your mind.... but then I have been doing this for over 40 years....

There are a lot of variables to consider, and many things that don't necessarily show up on a balance sheet when looking at a florist business... read some of the stuff here at FlowerChat, and if that does not scare you off, ask some direct questions.... you'll get lot's of opinion here....

Hello Matt,

Welcome to flower chat!

You are looking at an existing shop, then? Does it have employees? If it does, I would be hesitant for BOTH of you to leave your jobs unless your savings are significant. Equipment failure comes to mind first, (my most recent disaster). The other consideration is health care. If one of you has a job with this benefit, you might consider that job being kept for awhile.

Just my thoughts of the top of my head.
