Maybe the good people of Toronto should be grateful that they didn't get the summer Olympics , because of the extra security and the scare of terrorism , there are very few paying fans in the seats at Athens, meaning that finacially these games are going to cost the Greek people billions for years , in a country that just can't afford it. When you think about the terrorists have done what they set out to accomplish , just the threat is enough to keep the venues empty. Sad !!!

My thoughts are....
that TORONTO would have done a much better job of presenting these OLYMPICS, and though Athens IS the archieval home of these games, the city and country, were NEVER in a position to host the games, both financially, and spiritually...a few months back, these games were in danger of NOT happening at all!!
I would hope that the venue comittee of The Olympic board, realizes that "payoffs" do NOT promise success.....

With all the news media hyping up the fact that the great Greek Procrastinators had not completed most of the venues, subways, etc, who would have wanted to take a chance on spending big bucks on airfare, transportation, lodging, and then tickets.
With the gymnastics prelims being held on a Greek Orthodox Holiday..even less people in attendance.
Of course, being very close to the Middle East and Arab Nations would make many feel uncomfortable.
Seems to be quite a crowd watching the Canadian Women's Beach Volleyball match right now on CBC. Thank you CBC for timely coverage....love it..
