One of my employees had the nerve to get sick this year. It turns out that using your medical insurance makes the premium go up for the whole plan.

Bottom line -- Our company's premium is going up 25% this year. I'm not sure how to respond to that. Most of my employees can't afford their portion to go up that much and I can't just keep paying more and more.

Something's gotta give.

I'm sorry....:squish:

It's called your risk level. The one on the plan with the highest risk, sets the rating for the whole group. Aetna does this... The risk level is reviewed each year, on your anniversary date, and is affected by many factors - not just claims. Age and weight ratios are BIG factors...

You may have to do what so many have done in the past - either reduce your share of contributions, or eliminate the entire plan all together. Crappy, yes. May be hard to deal with, yes. But, how much can your biz afford on Med. insurance premiums as a benefit to your employees?
