We have a new family member. (just what I need going into a busy next 6 weeks.) His name is Zeek (for any of you MSU fans remember "the wonder dog") He is 5 1/2 months old. We don't think he will get much taller but probably broader and fill out. He is very smart and already know if he sits a treat will come his way. :) Oh he is a blue heeler. Our other Heeler passed away around Valentines day. We really missed him so we found Zeek one step from going to the shelter. The family who had him didn't realize how busy the breed was. They really need space to run and they had a tiny yard while we have 20 acres.

Oh, and he came to work with me today. So far pretty good. I am hoping he can come often to keep me company. The only family members unhappy are the cats. They were all huddled on my daughters loft bed this morning in protest - no longer kings of the castle - back to the bottom of the pecking order

Sweet Face and "perked" ears - ready to listen :)
Enjoy your new family member.

What a cute dog,We are big time animal lovers, Our Shihtzus come to work with us every day. They sit and look out the front door. Unfortunately people stop by to see them and donot buy flowers. I have never seen that breed before. That will be great if you can bring him to work. Good luck enjoy your new puppy!!!

Gorgeous Kristine, sorry to hear about your other dog, it is heartbreaking losing a dog, it really is. We have two bassets and they have took over our house :) But, if you are a dog lover i have found you cant be without a dog!! We got both of ours when they were 5 months too.

Enjoy :)

Zeek has already earned his keep. Last night just at dusk, he started barking and fussing at the porch door. So I snapped on the leash and we ventured out. 6 Deer in the side yard, trying to eat out of the bird feeder. Z just went crazy barking and snarling at them and they soon turned tail and left. Yesss, Those darn deer are a nightmare eating my veggie gardens and other cut flowers. It was amazing how quickly the deer learned our home was dog less when Bandit passed. So now hopefully they will make a wide berth with the zeekman on patrol.

Kristine, glad for you to have Zeek. When you are used to having a dog, and they have to leave us, it leaves a very weird, empty spot in your home and heart. So glad you have Zeek to fill that empty place! (and my guess is the cats will teach Zeek who comes first in no time at all)
