I'm not happy about this one but the bride wants mini gerbera bouts.
This is for a Sept 3 rd wedding in PA and it will still be hot and humid.

I am using Canadian mini gerbs with just some bear fern. Any tips on keeping them "alive" and not drooping ?

how about giving them a drink with the gerbera pills that make them stand more. I do gerbera buttonholes quite a bit but when i have the time i do them on the morning. They are actually quite quick to do. :)

I wish someone would make those gerbera stand up straight pills!!! Thanks, I will probably do that since I will have the time.
I think someone on the chat is going to suggest soaking a spot of cotton and taping it to the bottom, maybe Rick...... I did that with the stephanotis for the bride's hair piece.

Thanks.

we cut them from their stem then use oasis adhesive to seal the cut end. Tape after it has set up. Haven't had any problems.

When it comes to specialty flowers or more unusual requests.......like a mini-gerbera bout........I don't fret about it too much. Think about it from this viewpoint. The flower only has to last through the ceremony....which usually takes about an hour......a more elaborate one filled with pomp and circumstance might last 1 1/2 hours.......rarely over 2 hours.....then through the reception........which can run from 1 to 5 or 6 hours if it is a good one........plus the time for delivery ........... so in reality, that is only 6 to 8 hours that the wedding flowers have to last. Wheras flowers for a funeral have to last through the visitation, then the service the next day then transport to the interment, through the interment service......and at least the next day when family comes to get the flowers........72 hours minimal lasting time needed for those flowers.

We learned here to use 1/4 cup vinegar to 1 gallon water in addition to processing with floral preservative. It's like viagra for gerbs and it works really well. Give it a try before making your boutonnieres.

I use the canadian gerberas and they always arrive in perfect condition. I also wire and tape bouts and they last just fine. I use gerbera daisies a lot for wedding work for the past couple of years.

If you are concerned about them, you could always do these the day of the wedding.

funny timing for this thread, our wedding tomorrow will have some mini gerb bouts, we did nothing extra to them, just wired and taped, I think they will be fine ;) We just made them today, keeping in the cooler and delivering tomorrow, hopefully, it's supposed to be a little cooler than the heat wave we have had all this week!
