I am David Mitchell, a third-generation florist from the South suburbs of Chicago. Our family has owned and operated shops for over 90 years both in Chicago and in the suburbs. We are currently trying to define ourselves and figure out this whole industry and where we belong. We have been a traditional retailer for many years, and more recently have put a lot more emphasis into weddings and events. We are also working on the whole issue of "family-business," meaning how we relate to each other as family members and as business partners. Not always easy. I am looking forward to discussing these and other issues with members of the industry.
