Ok, this gives me hope for the human race.

So I am reading the Yankee Flyer (it's a weekly paper magazine for local stuff) and a person ads "Found money in Granby, describe amount and container".

Values by my Mom and Dad.

Ok, this gives me hope for the human race.

So I am reading the Yankee Flyer (it's a weekly paper magazine for local stuff) and a person ads "Found money in Granby, describe amount and container".

I was in a friend's apartment block about 28 years ago, and found a wallet in the elevator. It was obvious to me, even back then, that this was the the change purse of an older lady. Of course I grabbed it, and took it home to show my mom.

Inside we found one $10 bill. To teach me a lesson about these things, my Mom told me I couldn't have the $10 until we tried to find the person who it belonged to. Disappointed as I was, ($10 was a lot of candy back then!) I agreed to trying to find the owner.

So, my mom took out an ad in the local paper, with the same description as above. "Call and describe wallet, and how much money". We actually only got one caller. 9 times! Quite the actor this person was. British accent, Chinese, old, young. But, he was too greedy, and never actually got down to $10. Well, and this was again, obviously the purse of an old lady.

So, with no takers, we actually forgot about the wallet, until about 20 years later, when my Mom was moving, she found it in a pile of old purses and wallets and gave it back to me. "I guess you can have this now, no one is going to claim it." We had a laugh, and I took the $10 and went out and bought candy. (Which by that time in my life, meant ~ Beer ~)

True story!

Great story D.

Ever hear the story of the woman who bought a sport jacket at an estate sale. Apparently an old man had stashed money in a pocket. Something like $8000. She returned it to the widow. Some people are just good.

My husband owns a auto repair shop. One night coming home he had put the money bag on the bumper of the car and forget about it. Needless to say it went bye bye. It had all the payroll checks, the days monies and extra change. I man riding a bike found it and brought it to the shop the next day. We were so happy to see that and couldn't have thanked the man enough. It would not take anything from us or give us any info of where he lived. But my husband being the honest man and nosey man he is: follow the guy home.We sent him a cashiers check in a plant. We later found out that the man donated the money to a March Of Dimes Event. So there is still alot of honest and caring people out there. It just seems at times there aren't but HOPE is always alive and worth having!

Darlene, That is such a great thing!!!

You know I get weird looks when I tell the cashier you gave me too much money back or I say that amount doesn't sound right...I think you charged me too low. The smile on their faces just makes my day!!

There is a floral designer in Georgia (USA) whose name is Stacey Bass. He and his partner were on HGTV's "If Walls Could Talk," which is a program about old houses being remodeled and the interesting things that the owners find in the attic and other places.

In the house that Stacey had remodeled was an old piano which would not play, but they simply ignored it for quite awhile. One day, just before getting rid ot it, they opened it to look down into the strings, and then they knew why it wouldn't play. It was stuffed full of money, $10,000! They gave the money to the previous owner's estate.
