Attended Local Florist Association Meeting this week (Food Was Great).

Conversation with Teleflora Unit Board member turned into a real eye opener.

Discussion about Wedding show held last weekend and how good it was turned to discussion about Unit Funds.

Teleflora Unit is funded by (who else?) us. Money is used for educational purposes, scholarships to Teleflora design schools, State Association Luncheon, etc. Fine. That is good. We all have oportunities to attend these functions.

What I didn't know is . . . what happens to money left in the Unit fund at the end of the year.

Guess . . . . . . . .

Goes to the big T.

How much????? 3-5 K . . . . . No kidding.

oh gee, that's a surprise
and just think, the amount of money that they must collect in the major metro areas where there are gobs of TF shops paying those unit dues..

All the Units are there for, is to keep US shops following the corporate line, and to give Florists without a clue a pat on the back, nothing wrong with doing that (to give hard working Florists a pat on the back) but dont' pick their pockets at the same time.

It's the same reason why some of us smaller wire services don't hear about an event of a State Floral Association till it's too late to do something about attending or providing some sponsorship, because Teleflora doesn't want anyone else around, because they might get their big feet held to the fire. It's just more of the smoke and windows games they play with Florists hard earned dollars. Then people wonder why I can't stand Teleflora.

It's a feel good deal, kinda a copy of what FTD had with the old District/Region concept, but FTD had a reason then as we all know.

Didn't seem to stop you from enjoying yourself in their hospitality suite at the OFC :)

Just like some of the FTD people were there also. Plus I had 1 can of Coke. It was interesting watching Richard, who if he worked for me, would been fired by Monday for having a few too many drinks while on the job.
