Here is a clever idea to offer for Christmas. I have made quite a few Monogram wreaths for Weddings, but with all the fun stuff available at Christmas, I think it would be a hot seller.

I will tell you how I make them for events.

I usually wire vine garland to copper tubing for the base and then wire wrap greens, but for the Holidays, it is faster and cheaper to produce if you use 1/4 copper tubing available at Home Depot by the roll.

Shape and cut copper tubing to form the Monogram. Use baling wire to join pieces like the letter T, example to make a T, first make a L and a separate straight piece and wire the two together.

Snip off pre cut lengths from a roll of garland, I like to use boxwood. For most letters you can simply feed the copper tubing through the garland and then shape to letter.

I think one could offer different embellishments to suit customers budget.

Just another thing to offer that BigBox can't.

Can I ask you what you charge for this!
Wonderful idea!!

I think one could comfortably charge $65, but I feel it's worthy to embellish to the $100 range. It depends so much how fast you can produce it, thats why I suggest feeding the copper tubing through the garland and then forming the letter. I also recommend sourcing out pennsylvania boxwood garland.

Another think I use for floral work of this nature is really cheap faux evergreen garland. Simply zip tie the garland to the tube monogram and you have thousand of wired limbs to use to insert and wrap around to secure greens, cones, ornaments, flowers. I use cheap faux evergreen garland for all my heavy floral garlands, because it's so cheap and easy to use.

mossed monogram

I love that monogram wreath Thom! It looks a lot simpler to make than the mossed monogram that I made for a wedding last month. For the mossed monogram I started with a 24 inch tall x 2 inch deep, kraft paper covered monogram that I bought from Jo Ann's. It was $4 or $5 dollars with a 40% off coupon. Then I used a hot glue gun and sheet moss to cover the monogram. It took a while to cover, but it should last for a long time. Next time I do one, I think I'll charge $80 for it...

That is.... tre' cool. Have you ever worked with moss runners? It is great stuff to use for projects like this, you simply cut out the pattern and afix with thumbtacks, or glue.

Good job.

Monograms are hot right now.

I love this post. Thanks for the directions. I'm going to give it a try. I haven't seen it done in our area. Just put in 15 hours at the shop today, but, can't call it a day without checking out FC, always something new to learn.

Another way to add a monogram is to fasten taught fabric to the back of a wreath. I used a fabric glue and then sprinkled gold glitter to make the monogram. I should be easy to do as a add on to a fresh evergreen wreath. I suppose one would have to do a few prototypes to get a feel for the cost.
