Bride came in today with a pic of a cone, covered in moss with and ribbon criss-crossed over the moss and she wants rose petals inside. I said, "absolutely!!" but I'm trying to figure the best way and most cost effective way to design.....I was thinking to use a paper cone (that I make from scrapbook paper), glue moss on and then the ribbon??? Will this work? Has anyone else made these?

Thanks!!

Yes have done this... and yes your idea will work! And it is very, very nice and pretty! I did not use just paper though.. I used a heavy, heavy cardstock. I also glued the ribbon so that it did not shift.

I'm with Thom on this one - I would use a chicken wire ( poultry mesh ) cone, possibly line with with a heavy cardstock cone.......or.....even better, If you have a sewing supply or textile manufacturing or suppler near you - Industrial sewing machines and textile makers use large CONE shaped thread holders out of heavy, heavy mache like board.

Made well enough and you could make it a rental item for other weddings, Good Luck!

I made these moss covered pouches for a wedding and purchased from the dollar tree cloth 4 X 6 pocketbooks and covered them in glue and sheet moss.
I'm guessing your bride is giving these to everyone at the wedding, so you may be making how many? You might want to look at purchasing these from Oriental Trading, they might have something you could use and cover them in moss. They are very inexpensive for buying at dz. or more.

If you make them yourself, wallpaper is a heavier paper, just check out the discontinued stock at home depot or home improvement store or paint and wallpaper store. The dollar store may even have it. I have used chicken wire for some topiaries, but if you have to make losts of these, your hands will be sore.

There is a moss covered mat from Meck that is the size of a large
place mat. you can cut to any size...I use to wrap vases and hold it
together with raffia. looks pretty cool.
you could cut and make into a shape of a cone.....
