Got a calll from a Florist friend who needed a drop dead, expensive arrangement. They said, "really nice". I said, "$250", they said, "$500".................after going to the rest room I processed the order for table CP..........................pic not that good.

What's your largest single piece ever........:bouncy:

awwww, c'mon... post the crappy picture anyway :)
hmm largest centerpiece $$ ?? Probably about $175 few and far between :(

Can somebody help an ol guy, can't get it to post. It's on my facebook as well as A Floral Boutique Florist. Can some nice person, do that for me?.......Free lunch one day!!

irina centerpiece.jpgMy largest centerpieces were large orbs of black magic roses with curley willow and chrystals draped around them...

Each orb was made up of 250 open black magic roses, then large 3 ft pieces of curley willow were shooting out of the orbs and crystals were draped from branch to branch, those were sat up on a large 3ft tall ornate crystal vase....I was hired by an event company to do those and build a curley willow chuppah on site...my labor alone for the job was 1300.00...the picture is just the orbs not the finished piece, my camera unfirtunately did not make it to the end of the wedding, nor did I...I did this job before I lost all my weight and needless to say I was hurting after all of that work...

My most expensive single piece IIRC was $1600. 6 feet long about 8"wide about 6"deep. All blue hydrangea and white steph decor for an arbor for a wedding.

And Bootcamp- PLEASE forgive me, but that doesn't look like a $500 arrangement to me. I'd be so upset if I ordered a $500 arrangement and got carnations... let alone- front and center as the focal.
What was the occasion anyway?

Shannon, between the container and the flowers it definately is 500.00. There are full stems of cymbidiums in there and 4-5 bloom gazers and anthurium...carns and fugis too but sometimes for color and size this is a must...for 500 bucks most of my customers want to see some huge size and fullness..I can fit 500.00 worth of centerpiece in a low culider if I wanted too, but that doesn't relate to many as 500 worth...I am sure Rick knows what the customer had in mind when the sale was made...and that is the very reason I don't like when florist's send me open ended orders wire in...everyone of us has a very different thought on what is worthy of the money we spend...

Put the whip down, she was 80 years old, they wanted european garden style and she likes "carns" so we found a very pale lavender carn that blended with with the lillies. I'm not a designer (to long of a story for today). We delivered to home with 20" ceilings and they said it was for her table. Piece could have been bigger!! We took out $150 for container and delivery. They had to change her depends promptly. Thanks, Rhonda for the assist, free lunch one day....................

Seriously- No whip at all....
It's always surprising to me the differences in price from one place to the next. For instance- I charge approx $50 for a 8-11 bloom cym, maybe $8 for Anthrium, $10- $15 for 3-5 bloom Ories, etc...
That arrangement here in this shop would have been maybe $300- $350 with delivery.

That's why I don't ever see how TF and the like can give suggested prices. Makes no sense to me.

Hope that's a little bigger for you to see.

My most expensive ever was a casket spray with just large local calla lilies and an assortment of foliages. Twas beautiful and $800. The most expensive that was NOT for a funeral was 6 dozen roses, done in foam and an urn for a birthday. I didn't like it, it was $400.

The most expensive design I ever worked on........took me and another designer to work on it. It was for a funeral and the customer paid 1900.00 for the design. It was a full casket blanket. The florals were, galax, salal, and plumosus for the base, baby's breath covering, three rows of spray roses for the border and a central cluster of roses and lilies.

If you have never seen a full blanket......the design starts as two 4' x8' foot peices of burlap material........one brown and one green. they are sewed together around the edge.

Next step - Using 3M 77 spray glue, coat the backsides of galax and glue to the burlap. ( 77 spray glue nneds to be sprayed also on the burlap.....it holds to itself better ) Work in small sections as the 77 needs about a 2 minute time to get tacky so it will have the best holding power.

Next step - Use you Smither's Oasis Adhesive ( cold glue ) to attach salal leaves over the galax.........then use the glue to attach plumosus.

Next step - wire to the center section of the blanket a floracage for the center complement.....alternatively, you can omit this and just leave the flowers flat on the blanket.

Next step, Cold glue all your floral materials........I find it best to work from filler FIRST and graduate up to the larger sizes of flowers. Most designs place focal flowers first and graduate to the smaller sizes with fillers being placed in the design last.......reverse that for this type of design.

Will try to find some images of full blankets.

Here are four examples of casket blankets. Smaller versions of these are commonly called scarves.

In some ceremonies, there is a fabric or cloth covering over the casket called a PALL. The blankets are a floral version of that type of covering.
