It has come time for me to say good bye to my beloved 18year old cat, Digger...I am so completely sad...He is my favorite cat and has been since the day I found him. There are no words...

Lori, I have no words other than I'm sorry and I understand.

From a fellow animal/pet lover.....no words are needed.....we understand.

My Prissy was on this earth for close to 20 years.......and I still miss that little Chihuahua.

( She did have one habit though.......if it was a cold night, she slept under my covers with me in the bed.....but if she got really cold......then she would snuggle up against my side.....and invariably......during the night.....I would be jolted awake by a cold, wet nose shoved right in my armpit )

There are times I find myself wishing for that cold nose.

It is one of the hardest things to do, but part of loving them is letting them go. It is almost one year (9-11-08) that we said our farwell to Molly ( a 17 1/2 year old terrier mix). I still get a lump in my throat. They become part of the family. Sending you love and strength.... as you said , there are no words......

My heart goes out to you. Every time I hear of someone losing a pet, I get the big cement block in my throat that I have felt when I went through the loss myself. It's Digger's time now if her quality of life has diminished to the point that she's not happy to be here anymore. Just think about the wonderful long 18 year life she had with you.

You will see her again someday, I firmly believe it.

Lori, my arms are around you....my Mittens is 20 and so frail but quality of life is key....we make the best decisions for them for so long, then the final one is the hardest. Hugs....

Lori, I am so sorry for your pain (I am very familiar with it.) It just seems so unfair that their life span is so short. I know I will be in your shoes in a year or so for two of my older dogs. Over the 20 years that I've lived in my current house (on one acre) I've buried my pets in one area on the property that has become my pet cemetary/garden. I plant a special plant for each pet and my pet garden is by far the prettiest area of my yard.
My heart goes out to you.

Aw Lori, that's sad. I love my kitty too, and know that day will come for me as well... I am going to try to think of how I got to have her for a few years and how we gave her a nice life (we got her from the Humane Society)

Sorry to hear of your loss, had to put down our Tiger at 19 years , he came up with luekemia, did it right there and then , cause if I'd brought him back home would not have been able to go back to have him put down. Got a 13 year old lab that has slowed down so much in the last 6 months , he could walk for about an hour back in April , now is down to around the block 15 minutes . He is not sick or incontinent , but seems to have come to that point where its going downhill fast. And unfortunately he won't be replaced when his time comes. Too busy to train a puppy now and not home enough .

So sorry Lori - my tabby Coonie is pushing 20 and I know there can't be much longer but dang what a loving friend he has been.

Sorry for your pain Lori. Many of us already know how hard it is when we have to say Goodbye to pets who have managed to become another family member.

We lost our Beloved Preston, an American Eskimo Spitz last August and after our son Michael spent two months giving him IV under the skin fluids with vitamin B+. Vet wanted to put him down on Memorial Day since his kidney was failing.

He had two extra months of life which gave all of us time to learn how to say goodbye. In the end, and when Preston let us know it was time, the Vet put him to rest with the family present.

Took all of us six months to reach the point where we could talk about Preston, and without getting all teary eyed.

Loroi my heart goes out to you. We know the joy of loving a furry baby, and the overwhelming sadness of saying goodbye.

Just one month ago, we lost two of our furry babies within three days of one another.
Both were thorw away babies that God brought to us.

BooBoo was 24 in perfect health until a seizure on day, so we sent him to heaven. It was so hard. I think he was an angel with fur.

His wife of 22 years, Girler, had been partially blind for 2 years but after BooBoo left, she slowed down, bumped into things and told us she was ready to go. So three days after BooBoo, his Girler went to join him.

They are buried on our property, and we'll see them again in heaven.

Like Rickys' baby, our Girler stayed under the covers with me, or in her dads' arms all night. The only one to ever do that. But I think Girler had a talk with Diddo before she left, because immediately the very independent Diddo, started coming to the bed and pulling on the covers to get under, exactly like my Girler did. There is no way Diddo could have known that, because we kept Girler sorta separated from the younger agressive Ditto.

I think Girler talked to Ditto and told her "you'll have to take care of mom when I leave, and lay under the covers with her so she won't be sad.

Ok, I have finally broken down, I had held it in for all this time.
Everyone love your babies now while you have them, them let them go when it's time. God Bless all of you. Thinking of you Lori.

sorry Lori - I've done it more often than I care to remember, but then I remember all the joy & it kind of evens out the loss after a while.

sandpaper kisses,
tracy
