My daughter is Miss Nebraska Teen USA

We had a very exciting weekend. My 17-year-old won the Miss Nebraska Teen USA pageant over the weekend. As some of you know, I am a former Mrs. Nebraska. I SWEAR I did not push her into competing, and frankly, anything I say or do usually ends up with her doing the opposite. The joys of having a teenager. She abruptly announced to me that she wanted to do her very first pageant a month ago, so I provided all the support I could...but was not aloud to coach or discuss it with her. She got some pointers from my friends but truly did this all on her own. It seems she just grew up and blossomed overnight. We are so proud! She'll be competing in the Miss Teen USA pageant next summer in the Bahamas. She also gets to go sit in the first or second row of the Miss USA Pageant in April. She has a fun year ahead.

If you do an open house or something at your store, let me know, we can send her down to help. Its only 70 miles down the road from us. She needs to get as much experience as she can interacting with adults. She's pretty personable and does tours of the high school for the administration whenever they need it...but continuous practice will help her at nationals. Let me know...
 
Is this the child you were up set she wasn't in Home-Coming? Look out, bigger plans for her are in order.

No, I did not do the flowers. The pageant was in another town...I was simply a spectator.
 
There is nothing in this life that feels as good as your heart swollen with pride as you watch your children thrive and succeed. Congratulations to you both and wishing you as much pride and success as you can endure.

Congrats! The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, eh? You are both absolutely stunning! Love the look of her face in the pic when she was announced the winner! A true Kodak moment!
