Debbie and I picked up Elaine in Sudbury and we had supper befor eheading home to Elliot Lake.

He is recovering very well. He willbe in hospital for another 2-3 weeks and he willbe in a residence for another 2 months depending on his recovery.

He is slowly walking with the aid of a walker and he wont be able to drive for the time he is in hospital so his chest good heal properly.

I know we will have a hell of a big party when he gets here.

THe cost to stay in the residence is about $1,500.00 amonth.
THe cost of the rejection drugs $1000.00 a month
He does not have a drug plan and not old enough for the goverment to pay. We are looking into this trillium foundation to help pay the cost of his meds until he reaches 65.

His heart came from a man who was 50 years old who died in a motorcycle accident in Toronto. THat is all they are allowed to release.

He still not out of the woods, the first three months are critical as he still can reject this heart. They take biopsy on a regular basis and they can see if thigs work out.

Elaine did tell me that there was a filming crew during the operation and after when the doctor talked with her.
Maybe one day we will see thisoperation as they willbe able to get a copy of this tape.

Jack is one man that the world needs...chances are that when Sandie & I bring Sue and Bob up to visit, that we'll HAVE to drop in on Jack & Elaine, and I want to meet that moose in your backyard.:)

Mikey, I'm a confused American. All we hear down here is about how great health care is in Canada. I thought everyone had drug coverage in Canada?

How could your friend not have coverage?

Health Care and Drug Plan are 2 different items here in Canada.

Health care - everyone has it in Canada no matter what.
Drug plan comes when you work for a company that supplies it. Or you buy into a plan of your own. When you turn 65 your drugs are covered by the goverment.
Jack owned his businesses and did not have coverage.
