Not so great days at my shop. My driver quit with a message to my cell phone 10 days ago. After calling in sick here and there, and just enough to get me behind.

I have scrambled all last week and put in 70 hours just trying to get caught up. New driver started yesterday, and I fired him last night. Hated to do it but it was a complete waste of time. Three applicants from the unemployment office, two whose ph#'s aren't working. One lives to far away and I don't need "I can't get to work in the snow" issues.

NASTY customer on phone, late yesterday afternoon. We couldn't agree on delivery times and he lives way too far out to send an empty van out to hell's half acre for $7.00 delivery. He knows he lives too far out, and he was mean on the phone. Would not agree to a delivery later in the week, on and on.
After he hung up on me, I called back in my nicest voice and said if we could not make acceptable arrangements in one hour I would be happy to cancel the order. His wife called and said they would be in today to pick it up. ... I can hardly wait.

After it became evident that my driver had issues, I called my husband to help and he did but we ended up in a fight. Fa la la la.

My home needs my attention. My shopping is not done. I am falling further behind. Christmas obligations are piling up and I am the sentimental one who wants it all to go perfectly and not have anyone miss out on anything. Missed my families little dinner party Saturday(but sent flowers!) and was late to my husband's work party after that.

My father in law is on his yearly mission to ruin Christmas for the family, and I ususally to to fix this with a sunny attiude and some holiday intervention, but I am running out of patience.

My accountant needs paperwork from me, and I can't find the three hours need to get it together.

My employees think early is 9:30. And I might change my name today, just so I don't have to hear it all day. Can someone just make a decision, please?

On the upside it's a new day, my best friend's son is driving today. I do have help for the weekend with deliveries and it's the best kind - free. And there is 24 more hours in any given day, I guess I'll do that paperwork to the hum of the washer in dryer, after my son's chorus concert tonight. Better days ahead, I'm sure. Just needed to vent.

Ivy,

do you know any College age kids home on break??? Any friends with college kids home on break. How about a trusted HS girl to help finish the SHOPPING. (what girl doesn't like to shop)

GOOD LUCK and a big HUG>

So with you!!

I am sorry for all of this, but darlin you are not alone, So as I was told this morning by one of these darn girls, :We all have the infinite power to do all that needs to be done in our store house: I am ready to throw her arse in the street....Hugs to you and all is well today...Take a moment and make a snow angel in the snow, or pick up a hand full of snow and throw at the nearest wall...

:hammer:Oh boy! When it rains .....
I don't have any solutions, other than have a good stiff drink when it's all done.

Per Inka's suggestion - these holiday helpers can also wrap for you. I had a friend who "hired" HS girls each Christmas to wrap all her stuff.

Sorry Melissa - hope it gets better!!

I feel for you, I had the day from hell yesterday, too....Look at the brightside, today is another day. You will get through it all, and you will be stronger for it. Sometimes you just need to take 10 minutes of time to recenter, breathe and count to 3....Think of happy thoughts and then go in your cooler and let out one big yell. It helps to let it out otherwise you will let it out on an emplyee or customer...Good luck and I hope your days get better....

Sorry Ivy. When you get home tonight, rent Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase. It's about the folly of trying to have the perfect family Christmas. I guarantee it will brighten your day--if you can find time to watch it.

Also, be thankful that you're so busy. That's a good thing.

We get it! But I can tell in the way you write that you have the sense of humour needed to get through it all. Besides, its already getting better. Its hard to brush aside stuff like that rude customer and wierdo drivers so its good to vent here on Fleur chat. Tis the season to be stressed out.....falalalalalal glug glug glug:drunk: weeeehoooo

Wow...tough days! Know the feeling, been down that road where everything just piles up on you.

One thing at a time, and take a DEEP breath...

- Herb

PS - would 2nd Bigted on the movie. I have watched it already (2 nights ago when I said "enough" and went home...) I'm sure it will be playing later this week...

I send hugs and empathy and guess what, perfection isn't the be all for Christmas or anything else... that my dear is an unattainable goal with crash and burn written all over it. ;)

I'm working hours that are ridiculous and I'll be glad when it's over. We do our best and that's all anyone can expect... especially of ourselves.

Breathe, and breathe some more.

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts and encouragement. I really, really appreciate it.

A shout out to Luc from Canada who called my shop and pranked me, and I was so caught up in the moment, he really had me going. Loved it!

Just a quick note, mean customer was still mean when he came in. Unemployment office may have a driver for me tomorrow. Left the shop, went home threw laundry in washer and dryer, brushed my teeth, put a fresh coat of mascara on,(to make my seven lashes look like eleven) threw on my black coat so I would look dressed up, and off to the concert. Back home, more laundry, supper in crock pot for tomorrow, everyone tucked in and back in the shop to do wire outs, and SWEEP UP. Better days ahead, I'm counting on it.

Hey there Melissa, My love....take a deep breath and know that we all love you and have all been there. Also repeat a phrase that I often use
THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!!
I promise that life will eventually get better. It may take a while, but we really have been promised that we won't be given more than we can handle. When multiple things like that happen too me, I figure it is somehow a backwards compliment--I must really be really be awesome. So you are too, cuz you can HANDLE ANYTHING!!! Besides...when all else fails, you have us to vent to!

Tie a knot and hang on and remember, Love ya

:blowkiss:

New driver starts tomorrow, and my friend's son has been a big help. My free labor(will work for food) will be in Saturday and Sunday. All good things. My flower order is currently lost thanks to DHL and I will be scrambling in the morning, but such is life.

One of the reason's I started looking for a site like flowerchat was just so I could have conversations with other people in business for themselves, or that knew the industry. Sometimes you just want someone to know where you are coming from. Thanks so much for your support and kind words both here and PM's. Really needed a boost and I got it from my flowerchat family.:)
