I am about 10 miles from this shop and I deliver to this town. I did not know him personally but I did know of him and his business. He and his family are well known in his town and have a wonderfully successful floral shop as far as I know. I feel for his family and what they must be going through. I don't know what effect this will have on the floral shop....what a huge risk some take in the name of perversion!

Poor man.

The police lured him into attempting to seduce a 15 year old girl, who didn't exist.

Kind of hard to say a crime was committed when there was no victim.

Yes I do realise that if there was a real girl involved his actions would very wrong, and even worse if he actually managed to take advantage of her, but I really don't see this as a case of the police taking an active predator off the streets. I think a more suitable sentence would be counselling, rather than putting him in an environment with other criminals.

And the police could try solving actual crimes that have been comitted, rather than trying to create new crimes and new criminals.

I think it's disgusting....obviously we know where his heart is-evil. A child is what turns him on, I'm glad he got caught.

Christopher said it took approximately two weeks before Haehn’s conversations turned sexual.
“There was a lot of grooming the first few weeks, but nothing sexual,” Christopher said. “It was the same circumstances as the others.”
Investigators used a female voice to talk with Haehn on the telephone and sent him a photograph that would typically be found in a high school yearbook.
Christopher said as the dialogue continued, the conversations turned sexual.
He was on Web cam,” Christopher said. “He took his shirt off and jeans but nothing further.”
Foxhoven said officers did not make contact with Haehn until he attempted to make a delivery to the 15-year-old girl with whom he thought he was talking with online. Once Haehn attempted to make contact, officers questioned him at his business.
“We decided to move forward when he tried to deliver the items,” Foxhoven said. “He was treated differently because the two times he traveled here, we were unaware. If we were, he would have been arrested. When we learned he came over here, that’s when we decided to confront him. We didn’t know he came over until after the fact.”

Not exactly "lured" now is it....Your idea sounds reasonable but they have had these stings over here for over two years..guess what...some for the same guys are caught a second time...yes..a second time....so much for counseling. IMHO, if he had "intent" there was a crime....and more than likely, after investigation, most of these guys are not "first time" offenders....they just have not been caught prior to this time...as much as I feel for the families, I think they should be put away...far away for a long time...I do not believe there is a real "cure".

Yeah, OK I knew my opinion wouldn't be a popular one, and I can't honestly say I'm 100% behind it (except about the police doing something about crimes that have actually happend, instead of spending resources trying to generate new ones). But I do think it is important to question the methods they employ, something like this would be so easy to manipulate to send someone up who never had any intention of comitting a crime. The Police get away with it because it is such an emotional issue, The People will only ever look at it from a moral standpoint, not an ethical, humanitarian one.

And yes, currently there is no cure, but it is an illness and there are medical professionals working on it. I think the fact that there are so many re-offenders is evidence that it is a desease, these individuals are driven by a compulsion much stronger than ordinary lust.

I know it is disgusting and horrible, but if we don't think about these things clearly, unemotionally and just say "lock them up and throw away the key" we are not going to find a real solution to a terrible problem that is plagueing our society.

Sorry Todd, I can't agree with you there. A grown man has no right speaking and carrying on conversations with a child without the presence of their parents. When said conversations turn into a sexual nature it clearly shows what his intentions are toward that child. Obviously, something is wrong with that person in the head or they would have stopped from the get go. Do I believe it's a disease? Um No, I think that's a cop out. "Oh sorry I can't be held accountable for my actions, it's a disease, I have no control". TOO many things now are called diseases, I mean c'mon where do we draw the line??

You want a real solution to the problem...put them in jail and no early release. Then we won't have to worry about repeat offenders so much..of course once they do their time and they are released if they should happen to do it again then it's harsher and longer.

Thanks for the heads up!!!!!!! I know I won't be doing that if I get a call like that!

Todd... you have no idea the extent of child porn victims out there. The police use any and all means possible to get these disgusting pieces of sub human excrement off the street. Personally, I'm just fine with it. Wish I could help.

And if you think my reaction is over the top... imagine the child and their feeling... just imagine for one second.

He is a 54 year old man. He did not just have his first crap! He fully BELIEVED he was talking to a 15 year old child! His intent was to manipulate and rape a child. There is very few characters lower than these guys. In spite of what he KNEW and UNDERSTOOD about all that was legal and decent, he CHOOSE to pursue a CHILD to satisfy his own SELFISH perversions. No one "lured" him. In his twisted mind he saw "opportunity knocking" not "entrapment happening." Thank god that the police don't sit back and wait for a crime that has been committed to solve after the fact. Thank god someone's daughter, sister, child didn't have to become a victim in this case before this guy was caught.

Are bank robbers entrapped and lured by the bank because they see money there?

I like you, Todd........but in your own words, you knew your opinion would not be popular.

Peace out.....
