Started on Wed last week. My mom was sent to the hospital because of low blood pressure. 80 over 40. Also she was found to be delirious and was not able to answer day to day questions.
Tests showed low magnesium and pottasium. Also found she had a fever.
Admitted to hospital regular room.
By Thursday, was sent to ICU. Infection has set in her. Doctors not sure what type, mother is too weak to undergo any major test, she could died.
THey wanted to do a colonoscopy. Cat scan says infection around her operation. At this time they think that maybe they have a leak in her bowel.
Kidneys shuts down during night. THey get them restarted.
By Friday she is moved to Special Care Unit. Blood count low. Have a problem to control blood pressure. Has not been eating properly for about one month.
Infections is getting worse. very week. I make a decision to go up on Sat.
See her Sat. morning. Has multiple lines into her, 2 different types of anti biotics is given to her, Blood count is 77. I am asking her general questions and answers are not normal. SHe is happy to see me and rubs my belly.
By Sat. afternoon . she has fluids on her lungs. THey need to give her more med to fight that or they will have to incubate her. Medication is working, but they gave her a sedetive to calm her down.
Sunday very week, tired, was given blood , blood count higher. My sister who dis-own my mom for the last 2 years goes to see her un-annouced. Creates turmoil.
Monday, still week. but anti-biotics are working.
Today Doctors visits hers. One for her heart. Not working right. One looking at doing the colonscopy tomorrow. to see if the bowels are leaking. Specialist come in from bacterial infectious dept. Think it may be c-dificile she is fighting also. Results are to be confirmed tomorrow. If she has c-dificile she has to go into quarantine for 1 month.
Prayers are needed. Not only for my mom but for my sister who is going to the hospital daily to be with her and talk to doctor.
I am 2 hours away and not in a position to be there for long periods of time.
this weekend 4 people dies in Elliot Lake. 1 Funeral a day till friday. Plus 2 weddiing this weekend, and 1 wedding consultation on sat.
Staff are on stanby in case in need them to step up to the plate.
