A good customer just called and mentioned that by using google local we are listed but our web site listing is now some order gatherers site.

How do I get this fixed.

contacting Google can be an abyss............. TIA

When I used Google Local, your shop name and address came up (but no link to your site). When I did a traditional google search, it came up with you site. I didn't see a problem, did you see this your self, or your customer only?

I assume this is your site - http://www.thornapplefloral.org/

First - ask Mlou to link to your URL from your Real Florist blog listing.

Next - Go to the Google Local Business Center, create an account and update your listing. They now allow verification by an automated phone call so it's much, much simpler and faster.

Google Local displays Partypop because they have you listed on their site. It's not a hijack - more like an error.

Thanks for all the advise & help. I went to google local biz center and updated my listing. Sure was much faster than when I initially filled out the information eons ago. and yes the partypop thing came up.

Interesting our web site address is .com and we own .org and have that as direct link along with others.

thanks everyone for the help.

Inka,

I just realized you are running full blown mirrors of .com and .org. Why? The content is exactly the same. Why not just redirect .org to .com. I'm 99.9% sure the mirrored sites are hurting, not helping you. This may be part of your problem.

MSN says you have 15 links pointing to .org http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=link:www.thornapplefloral.org&mkt=en-US&form=QBRE
and
9 pointing to .com http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=link:www.thornapplefloral.com&mkt=en-US&form=QBRE

You would definitely be in better shape if they all pointed to the same domain. Are there any other copies of the site out there?

Not a clue. I put a call in to my host/server and I will get it all straighten out. Thanks for pointing out the issues.

And no, there are no other copies of the site out there unless my old host/ server (changed in May) never took the old one down but I have made substancial changes over the summer so I don't think that would be an issue.

thanks!

I confirmed my suspicions about your sites with a highly-skilled webmaster friend. You have a canonical issue that has hit many websites. Request your webmaster perform server-side 301 redirects from http://www.yoursite.org , http://yoursite.org and http://yoursite.com to http://www.yoursite.com .

The 301 permanent redirects tells search engine spiders that www.yoursite.com is the one you've chosen as your real URL. Right now, they see four different sites with the same content and basically penalize you for it.

It may take a couple months for the SEs to sort it out so the changes should be made ASAP.
