Well some of you have followed my "store purchase" as I ask questions. I thank everyone who's participated.

We looked at the numbers and realized that while our FTD numbers were bigger (more incoming orders) they were also smaller in size ($29.99 free delivery garbage) and since we already have TF POS system, plus the fact that our TF orders seem to be mostly florist-florist and higher quality, plus we are doing all our outgoing through them because of ease of doing it through POS, we would cancel our FTD account (for now, everything else will be re-examined). The shop is not ours, yet, but the owners are fine with it, since my wife is the manager, so they told her whatever is best for the business, whether they sell or not, is fine.

So, my wife called FTD today (it is the last day to cancel for the current directory) and they told her this, which I wanted to confirm with you. They would cancel the service as of July so that we can take orders while the old directory is still being used. As soon as the new directory comes out, we are done. Does that sound good to you? Or are they trying to pull something, i.e. if we keep accepting orders, we are not out...

Look forward to your help, and THANK you as always.

Ed,
That's what we did a year ago today and we were out end of July with no conflict with FTD.
We accepted orders (from other florists only) until end of July and, if memory serves correctly, sent until then too. Last statement was, I believe, Oct which had a zero balance (if you send an order the receiving shop has 90 days (?) to report it).
We made sure they had it in writing by emailing it to various contacts at FTD and getting replies; accounts, membership, rep, Canadian Boss (Frank Stornelli) and maybe a couple others so no one could say it was received too late.
Good luck

Gotta do it today, or you're tied in for three more months.
Cancel by merc message to 90-0217aa, send a fax to 630.724.6609. You don't have time for a letter. We did all three as I just cancelled our membership last week - also sent a registered letter. You can still send & receive orders, as you are considered still a member till August 1, but we chose to end all contact now. I'd rather not have the headache anymore.
Really wish I had done this last year, but I've learned so much since then. Can't look back I guess!
good luck,
tracy

Very important that you cancel in writting i case the person that took the call is no longer there today. Make sure you say something like as per our phone call yesterday or date the phone call.
It is your option to either receive or send until the new directory is out in july. In my case I used them to receive only and sent teleflora. This way they always have a credit owing you or the new owners.( you hope so anyways). It took me 6 months for them to cut ties with me, and it is the last three bitter months that left me sour with them. THey always had a excuse on why I was still receiving statements. I cut my ties in March to be effective May 1 . Done everything like I was suppose to do. In March and April I was receiving florist only. I did not use them to send so I would not get billed for any orders. Aug, should have been my last statement, and they manage to draw it out till nov.
SO be prepare just incase it does not go in your favor or even free offers....
I think you are making a wise decision. Shops these days should only be 1 wire service, which ever one You choose and feel comfortable with.
Some of my best friends are FTD only shop... I won't hold that against them.

Ed,

We cancelled FTD and were put through the same song and dance. Just make sure you keep a sharp eye on your monthly bill and do not be afraid to call/email them regularly to make sure that they actually do cancel you when they say they will.

They actually overbilled us and kept sending us past due notices until I sent back a official dispute letter challanging the charges, and since then I've heard not a peep from them.
