OK guys, I'm alittle out of it with my friend passing away. Mark's wife would like one of the pieces to be a dog bone. I have an idea of the mechanics but need alittle help. Use one sheet of styro foam or what? Any help will be appreciated

Hi Darlene:

One of the English ladies (a former member) used to make this kind of thing all the time. I do believe she used a stryofoam sheet cut to the shape she needed. I can't remember her name at the moment but I wonder if her pictures are in the gallery somewhere.

Hi Darlene,

I remember the pieces V is talking about. It seems to me they were in the beginning threads of the funeral designs thread. She used flat styro-foam and then cover with her cushions. Then she air-brushed, but you should be able to do it with your design master - I would use almond. If you are any good at all in painting or pastels, use those talents to put some shading in for the rounded joint areas.

Is it from a beloved pet? I assume it will be on an easel.

But there are other things you can do if it is flexible.

You could do something in a very large dog dish or other large container, and make the bone smaller with a brick of oasis. It isn't that hard to shape it, and then do as above. Use toothpicks for your mechanics either way. Then, do a spritely arrangement in an asymetrical design around the bone propped at an angle.

Hope that helps, when is the visitation?

Her name was Treen, I think that is who V is talking about.

I would use a foam sheet and then cut it to shape and cover it with white double xanths. You could then spray it buscuit coloured like it is a buscuit bone. I would be tempted personally not to put a spray on it just to keep it simple. JMHO :)

Thanks Paula. For the life of me I couldn't remember the name. I remember Betty Boop as her avatar though. :)

Mark passed away in WI on Saturday. They had to wait until today to be able to have him sent home.We meet with the funeral home today at 2:00pm so hopefully visitation is on Thursday.

Yes,it will be from Mark's little one,Mia.I can't remember what type of dog she is. Doesn't matter but I think it will be on an easel.Or Nancy (Mark's wife ) may want it in the casket lid. So it maybe smaller. I'll know more later. Thanks much
