Need help on Hindu Lei

I have a customer needing a lei for a Hindu funeral service. I need some help with figuring out the amount of orchids. Needs to be 40 inches long using cymbidium orchids. Needs to very lavish. Could some one help me, I have made some years back but can't really remember the formula. Thanks.

Hey Lizi,

Well I don't know for sure, only had dendro leis which takes about 40-45 blossoms and is roughly 40". Are you going to use standard or mini cymbs? Mini cymbs would probably be about the same, 40 - standard....I would guesstimate about 15 of them.

I figure a mini cymbid is about 2 inches in diameter, but if you want it lavish, you need to tighten up the line, so then maybe 1 1/2 inches. To be really lavish, it needs to be double sided.
So one sided would take 30 blooms, double sided 60 blooms. Based on the average stem having 12 blooms, it will probably take 5 stems of mini cymbidsto make a 40 inch, double sided lei.
