I need to fill out an employees evaluation form, as she is applying to a prestigeous nursing school and needs a work recommendation. She has worked for me for 3 1/2 years. Some of the form is evaluation by checkmark (easy). The section that states additional comments: (Please attach extra sheets as necessary) I can probably come up with something pretty decent . Where I am stump is at....Identify experiences which might have influenced the development of this applicant. Help!!! I can think of things that I know about her personally, or relating to her personal life but I don't think that is what they are looking for. I'm sure they want it work related. Why can't I wrap my mind around this question? Am I looking to deep?? I don't know! Any suggestions? She needs this written by the weekend. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Think Daily things

In the daily course of activities in your shop, has your employee ever stepped up to take leadership of something? Solved a problem? Made someone's day better by caring? Learned something the hard way? These are the situations in which we all grow daily. Perhaps they went out of the way to do something difficult? In a nursing school, problem solving, thinking on your feet, compassion, and even following directions should count for something and you can probably come up with specific instances to report.

They are looking for "scenarios". As Donna said, give examples where this person has shown her talents and life skills in given situations. Also Joan, I don't think it matters if you include personal insights also.

The first thing which popped into my mind was an example of how she dealt with a stressful situation, such as a difficult customer or the late arrival of event flowers. Just two ideas..

How about compassion? Has she ever had to deal with a family regarding the greif experienced when they came in to order sympathy flowers?

Compassion...a much needed thing in the nursing field, as most *doctors* seem to lack the capacity...
