I'm looking for flowers to use in an arrangement for the buffet table for an under the sea theme party for high schoolers. The colors they have selected are aqua, black and silver for balloons. I'm stumped. Only flower I've decided to use is blue dyed dendros. This design can be all colors or any colors. Budgets not huge but grand ideas are welcome. I know how to scale down.

I read your post and the first thing that came to me was Walt Disney's The Little Mermaid. Then I googled Under the Sea Party theme and found quite a few pictures of DIY decor. When I think of under the sea I think of lots of color like Aqua and colors found in coral. I would try using maybe cockscomb to give a coral look or try groupings of statice if you are on a budget. Maybe wire some pearls or drape some throughout the arrangement because they come from oyster shells. Put some shells in the arrangement maybe.

Hope this helps!

What about an arrangement IN a shell http://www.flowersmadesimple.net/underthesea.html

Look here: Found an idea that incorporates some of my ideas with Melissa's idea of seashells and protea http://www.underthemagentamoon.com/store/3456599/product/HPY-CLM

OK GOOD LUCK!!!

definately some shells, maybe some bigger pearls glued into them, pin cusions awesome idea, cockscomb also awesome, bear grass in big clumps works nice to get some flowing movement...I love iris in a underwater deal...and deflex greens would work well..maybe even a fishing net usually pier one has that kind of stuff, at least here on the east coast they do...

Ooh, that sounds like fun. I love themes!

Okay, here's my idea. It's grand.

Large cylinder with shells and pearls inside, maybe sitting on a net. Then suspend fish that are blue and black at varying lengths inside. You can even cut the fish in half and uglue half inside and half outside. Love the idea of pincushions and cockscomb, I would put those inside of the cylinder too for the sea floor, maybe a few of the dendro blossoms too.

Then for the top dish of flowers.Did you know that Amy's Orchids does an orchid in aqua? It's a white dendro dyed blue, I would mix those with the dark blue and some of the "coral" along with shells and pearls wound in there and draping down. Love the bear grass too, that would look great spouting out the top of the dish.

Where the heck is Shannon?

Great ideas everyone! Bells of ireland have great movement. YOu could do a "scene" with shells, coral, pincushions, corkscomb, bear grass, and bells as the flowing water above it all.

Thanks everyone for your great ideas. We have decided to do a big clear cylinder with aqua glass on the bottom and an orange pincushion protea at the bottom,a seashell or three, maybe blue water, top cylinder with a lomey dish, strings of pearls and some sprengeri cascading from an arrangement of blue orchids, beargrass, agapanthus, cockscomb, protea, reindeer moss, green trick dianthus, maybe a few roses. Still looking for some fake fish. tabletop around vase will have some glass and seashells sprinkled on it.
Appreciate your help.
