I have a bride who is going to have 25 tables. She would like her centerpieces to be yellow and white, with an airy look but also likes the twig and moss look, but doesn't want it too country, simple but elegant is the way I would describe it. She also likes the cube vases but is open to suggestions. Her bouquets will be calla lilies, white for the bridesmaids and white and yellow for her with maybe some steph mixed in. Bouts are all mini callas. Three corsages for mothers and grandmother. As a budget she wrote down $1000.00, so I am quickly figuring $25.00 per table for the centerpieces. If you guys have any great ideas, I would love it!!

Thanks,
Julz

I'm thinking more natural materials and less flowers. Maybe take a 6" cube vase and place a small piece of curly willow inside then lay a square piece of sheet moss over the top, some small river rocks (the teeny pebble kind) in the bottom. Then I would take a part of a forsythia branch and place it into the vase through a small hole in the moss (think a small tree growing from the vase) and glue white flowers such as white larkspur florets to each branch.

It may be too "woodsy" for your application but, it would be very different and cost effective :)

Wow! $25 bucks doesn't leave much when you figure in a $6 vase. Maybe have a small block of yellow oasis wrapped in leaf 2 white dendrobs kind of out the side and a white lily stem in close some yellow/gold deco wire and pins to dress up exposed mechanics...

FYI Jacobson's in Boston has the 4x4 cubes on sale (in store only) for $1.99 next week only.

Does she have $1000 budgeted for the tables or for the entire wedding?

If it is for the wedding, what prices do you have for the bridal bouquets? bouts, corsages, church etc? It seems to me that you have some pretty expensive flowers for the bridal party.

If she likes cubes, go with tall 20 inch -ish ones that are 4 inches square.

You can drop a two flowers inside the vase with a twig and you are done.

Looks good, and its fast. Lilies and a rose or an alstro. I have done this and charge $15.00

If you budget $15, it will give you a bit of flexibilty with the rest of the wedding flower cost.

Try this one on for size - 12 inch glass or acrylic clear ming saucer. long tendrils of curly willow wrapping around the inner edge of the bowl under the lip, Entwine two or three mini callas in the network of willow...place some water in the bowl and place a floating candle.

quick, easy, willow can be wrapped around the lip in advance, place the callas day of the wedding and let them go out the door.

very Nice idea....

You could do something similar to the glass (gerberas) shown in design with better CRAP thread using 2 or 3 callas, some willow and just moss on the base if the budget does not call for leaves. Can be done in any small container....just a suggestion.

Don't mean to sound ignorant, but could you describe a ming saucer? Thanks, Julz

They are a clear bowl with a lip. I think syndicate sales has one.. Not sure what they call it.

Julez, I attached a picture of one type of glass ming bowl...bottom left corner. If it is hard to see check out syndicate sales website..

Diamond line plastic products has several, syndicate sales has glass and plastic/ acrylic. The illustration provided by Lori is exactly the type of low lipped bowl I was thinking of. Really, most any type of low lipped bowl will work......so long as you have the lip to hold the willow tendrils in place under the edge of the bow.

Thanks Lori for the pics, now I know what a ming saucer is!! She decided to go with square vases (she bought herself) with river stone (which she bought herself) and do her own arrangements, with flowers she is buying from me. She hasn't decided what kind of flowers she wants yet. Oh well, at least I got the wedding party flowers.

Julz, sometimes this is the most profitable way to sell the wedding party flowers. Buy, process, price and sell. Lots less labor. i.e. trasnporting finished product, setting the centerpieces around the reception room, and then picking up and cleaning the vases your purchased for this wedding.

Yes Joe, I agree. I am one of very few florists around here who will sell bunches to brides. I could never understand why. You still make a profit and it is so much less hassle. If they want us to process the flowers we charge an extra 25% to the total flower order. I think its great, let them deal with it and play florist for a day!

Yes Joe, ................... play florist for a day!
Julz

Exactly !!!!

Let them stress out over the arrangements, let them struggle as a flower cut too tall falls out of a square vase, Let them deal with carrying the arrangements in a too small car or big SUV without the proper ways to secure the arrangements, Let them deal with the laundry bill when they soak the tablecloths with water after it sloshes out because they filled the vase with too much water......Just take the money, give them the quality of flowers that they paid for.......deposit the money.....and go have a tall drink.

There's another consideration I see here - if they fumble it and they look like crap - how do you know your name won't be associated with who did the flowers?

This is the reason we choose to do all or none.

Great idea!

BTW, this thread is an example of what I am afraid of losing at Flower Chat. Powers-That-Be, move carefully, please.
