Need "Quantity" help

Does it have to be live greens? And will there be any flowers or just greenery? If it has to be live, does it have to be a certain variety? I'm asking because there is a vine called "Kudzu" that we call wild grape. Sucker grows like a foot a day but it would have to be late summer in order to use it. And it would have to be cut and hydrated and cooled because it wilts pretty quick.

I'm just wondering if "roadsidia" would work for this wedding.

I have to say, if your poles are only 2x2, it could turn out pretty disappointing. Can you "puff" them out at all with moss, sprayed green so you don't need so much garland?

Just thinking out loud here.

We do this type of look a few times a year. I would achieve the look by using a local inexpensive greenery that i picked ( "roadsidia"?) as the base. Just take lots of it and wire tight to cover the polls. Then wire the lemon on (or add garlands but way more expensive) and then add the smilax loosely over it. If you were to buy all the garlands for this it would be a fotune and I don't think you could achieve the covered look you are going for.

Can I make a suggestion....

Why not use carpet rolls (like toliet paper rolls- but for carpet)

put the carpet rolls over the skinny poles.
But first- use super 77 to glue green sheet moss onto the carpet rolls. works super well.

THEN wire on some roadsidia or salal then your garlands, then your simlax, etc...

you'll be able to get your puffiness without tons of product

Yep, about 40 feet to wrap around an 8 foot pole.
You can cover it with something else first, if you like, but it will still take about 40 feet to wrap around an 8 foot pole, no matter how you think about it.
It sounds like alot, but one and a half bunches of Italian Ruscus can easily turn into a garland of that lenght, if you cut each stem into 5 or 6 peices, and then wire it into a garland.
So, all you need is 1 1/2 bunches of italian ruscus per pole, wired into a garland, then wrap it around each pole.
It will look great.

Joanne- My math must be wrong. When I receive 1 bu of Italian Ruscus, I receive 10 stems. How can I wire the 15 stems into a 40ft garland even if I break it into pieces? I'm assuming that the It. Ruscus is to be wound over a base of roadsidia? I like the idea though, it adds the necessary wispiness.

Shannon-
Good idea about the carpet tube. I like that. Nice and light to transport. Thanks :)
