I am always looking for ways to keep a bit of fun in the Christmas madness. Is there anything special that anyone does for their staff during the holidays, beyond food ! Perhaps a good pratical joke or something...anything to help cut the tension and make everyone have a good laugh.

Yeah I play practical joke on myself all the time, It really does keep me on my toes....

I don't have any staff, but what a nice thought because December is a very tough month due to all the personal crap and biz crap thet goes on....wish I had some thoughts for you...

Keep smiling and keep laughing. When we have a mad half hour (normally get the giggles about 3pm) share it with the customers. Our customers like the fact we know how to laugh. We also get out the Sherry (we only have one) later on and then when we lock up and no more customers we play all our favourite CD's. Doesn't cost anythig but it makes late nights more enjoyable.

We do a lot of laughing at my shop. We simply enjoy each other's company. No practical jokes because they generally backfire on me. Now that I think about it, we are generally laughing at some goofus thing that I've said or done!

Sorry, no ideas for you.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
SOmething up my alley.

I did one time, put a manekin (sp) in the bathroom and closed the door. When someone we knew that was going to go first thing when she got into the store, she open the door and came face to it.
IT was so freaking funny, for us anyway.

Sometime, if it is one of my favorite song on the radio, I go to the back and crank it up and lip sing it to the staff or customers if they come in. make it like a little show.

Sometime, oh often I go on our store phone PA system and call out for cashiers to the front, carry out to the front, even call out security scan aisle 3 or Attention staff, we are on code three alert?
They say Code 3, What the helllll is code three?????

If those things don't work, I have a good brownie receipe you can use with a special ingredient that will make them all giggly.....

I love to use our phone PA too. I love to call my husband (our delivery driver/plant guy/ fix it guy/ snow shoveler, etc.) to the managers office (my office) he he.

I also like to get on the PA and tell Amy she has a call on line 1 or 2 or 3, whatever when she standing right next to me! Or at least in earshot.

I found a good Christmas bonus seems to cut tension really easily.
