We are seeing a lot more bright colored weddings. It has been mentioned that this may be the trend due to the economy.

we participated in a bridal show last sunday. It was in a recently refurbished venue thats totally 1920's. Loved it! The girls and models walking around in gowns and flapper type dresses were great. The music was very jazzy. we gave away to all the brides a small cluster of three roses (mixed colors) with oasis wire and beads coiled around. then had a laminated card with artdeco bride and groom on front and our info on back. was a big hit. I think the bouquets that the brides liked the most were the eggplant mini callas, the garnet mini callas, and the vandella roses that had jems in each. They also liked the bouts with beading and wire and love the little kissing balls for the flower girls.
You have to do at least one large "wow" floor piece and have a professional banner made for the front of your table.
I was really impressed with another florist that had the large picture frame with changing pictures of their work. So much nicer that flipping through albums. I made a point of telling the other florist about flowerchat even though they are my competition. love this place!

We did 3 weddings that were lime green, hot pink and orange. Several weddings that were Davids Bridal "Pool" blue. Lots of fall colors coming up in October. We have 3 weddings this weekend. One is light blue and light green, one is hot pink and red gerberas and the other is a mix of flowers in hot pink. Hope that helps.

We are seeing a multitude of color schemes happening, however taupe and champagne have remained very strong. We have been highlighting the quicksand rose, have you considered going clean and monochromatic while highlighting different styles?

different shades of the dress swatch watermellon flowers used: green hydrangea, roses, orchids, tropicals
chocolate - all shades of creme

handtied boc for all, but one cascade that was honkin huge with orchids, etc.

had a wedding for next September come in with a watermelon swatch from David's Bridal...... the swatch matched "Beauty" sheer - very very similar to the old Forever Yours color.

Wedding Trends

Reading your posts, research agrees with all of you. Colors start with the dress. Working with garment manufacturers, The U.S. Color Association and a floral design committee, OASIS Floral Products put together the trend colors for this year. You can find them in the Wedding IDEA Magazine. New trends will be published in March. More burgundy and richer warmer colors to come.

Let me know what you think. - Jacque, Smithers-OASIS [email protected]

Chocolate brown is going "out" and eggplant is in for 2010 as a dark bridesmaid color. Monochromatic palettes are big (think eggplant, purple, lavender, white.)

I'm also seeing a lot of elegant palettes like ivory, white, blush pink and gold.

Grey is also huge right now as a neutral.

Crisp green, white and black are also big and eye catching to today's bride, but I think this trend is on it's way out. (Think greens in flowers, not actual greenery).

Then there are always the really fun eye catching palettes, which is what I would do at a show. Pick a color combo that you don't see anywhere and create your own look.

It also depends where you are and what bride you want to attract. If you are not in a major metro area, your trends may be a little behind.

If you want to attract a modern and fashionable bride, always follow what is hot in the fashion world. If you want to attract the everyday bride, stick to the less risky palettes.

Oh, and orchids, peonies, garden roses and anything out of the norm are big.
