I have a bride for Dec. who wants a all roses wedding. she has brought the maids dress for me to see! It's not a pink and it's not a peach. I got in sweet Akito to show her, won't work, I got in Candy Bianca won't work.. Peach shades wont work. she only wants roses no fillers or acct colors. we are going with a Eskimo rose for the white.. she's a pain what do I need to be charging her for all this extra work? I spend over 1 1/2 hours at a time with her!~!

Is this the question? Or are you asking for a rose to suit the need?

If above, the "extra work" it whats done to secure the order and part of the "sale" process...generally with Brides it requires more than a regular customer..more trips to the cooler, more ordering in samples...etc...

As to how much you can charge for the "extra service", that will depend on how big the wedding is in the end, and how much labor you can build into the final price. You have to expect to spend a good amount of time with a bride, even for a $1500.00 wedding...less perhaps for a $500.00 one, but remember the only difference between these two brides is their budget, they both want and deserve the same service.

A rose color suggestion would be helpful too.. thank you..~Tracy:smoke
Sorry, I'm at a loss... you've covered the couple I would have mentioned... I assume Red is a no-no for this one...

How about Esperance? Is it supposed to be "pink" or "peach" ??

Do up a contract once you have decided on exactly what the bride wants. Make sure it has a substituions clause. Protect yourself and the bride.

Sahara is a beautiful deep cream/tan that would complement peach or pink.

good luck!

Complimentary or contrasting?

Look to you color wheel.

Also, one little trick i use is that I have a house paint sample chart, one of those paint chip charts that fan out.

They have thousands of colors. Instead of buying roses every day and letting her decide have her pick a color off the chart. then take it to your wholesaler and match it up.

Now, here are two questions,

Why do you want to match the roses to the dresses anyway? The dresses and the flowers will be visually more stimulating if they don't match but rather compliment each other.

Second, what are you doing with the roses you are buying in for her approval?

joe

ps, i don't know if you have done this, but why not get a swatch of the dress take it to your wholesaler and then pick out the color rose.

The paint chip idea is fantastic. I am located next to a paint shop and will be over there today.

What about Cherry Brandy? It is the most delicious shade I've ever seen. It has a big head and holds up well. The center is kind of a pinky-peach and the outer petals are darker which will add some contrast against the dresses. If you have a chance to use these roses, you will always be requesting them, they are so beautiful!

all the roses SHE is PAYING for and she has.. she is that picky believe me I have tried to sway her to assenting colors.. NO WAY she is set in what she wants and she is bringing me a dress to look at . I guess they just came in at the bridal store. She has a "dream" look and thats fine I want to help her make it come true...

What is the name and style number of the dress, or who makes it, then I can send the you the right name of rose that will work. This really helps ..

Sierra Flower Finder

I'd save yourself time by referring her to www.sierraflowerfinder.com That way she will be able to see what is available. Make sure you have her choose 3 different roses because you may not be able to track down her #1 choice. Explain to her that there is variation in colors depending on the farm, weather, etc and get it in writing that she understands this. If she picks a rose that is more expensive/ harder to track down, make sure you charge her for the work/ price.

I've saved myself a lot of time this way. I think the bride feels more in control when she chooses the variety.

Good luck!

Okay I just had a look at the sierra rose colours and I would sugguest for a very sexy look cream, aphrodite and lime green with a lovely dark green foliage around the base. You could even add black in there...whether it be berries around the base or black feathers.
Sorry if anyone thinks this is ugly hahahaha but I am such a fan of these colours together:)

just remember the colors in those photos may not accurately reflect the color of the rose she orders. You are absolutely correct that weather, soil and other environmental conditions will changed the color of a give rose.

Tracy, my advice to you is Punt.

If this bride is this particular, you probably won't please her. she will likely find something wrong.

If you choose to do the wedding, you need to explain to the bride that there will be some variations in color which are outside of your control and that she has to accept that as fact.

Joe is right. I just had a wedding a few weeks ago that required four bunches of Konfetti (gag ;) ) roses that were requested by the bride. The colors were perfect for her wedding, I'm just not a Konfetti fan. Annnyway, when the roses arrived three of the four bunches were the perfect shade of "Konfetti". A yellow rose with a burnt redish orange tip. The fourth bunch...not so much. It was more of a pale yellow with a pinkish tip.

It was fine, I used the last bunch in centerpieces and in a few of the bridesmaids bouquets hidden by some beautiful fall gerberas and the bride never noticed the difference. Point is, the colors of flowers vary greatly by grower and the way the wind is blowing ;) Show her something close but make sure you warn her about the possibilities of the rose being a few shades off.
