If this does not go in this thread, then move it to the right one.

My friends and I are beginning a new business. We are developing an import business specializing in Mexican Imports.

We are creating a catalog of Mexican Plaster statuary, figurines, vases, and other unique items.

Would any of you like to have a catalog on cd to look at the items and determine if you would like to have some for selling?

The attached picture shows one of our angel statues.......there is a small container in the back between her wings for florals.......she wholesales for $10.50 plus shipping....and she stands nearly 2 feet tall and weights close to ten pounds.

If you would like a catalog, let me know, and we'll put one in the mail for you.

Always looking for new suppliers... Y'all doing anything with recycled glass out of Mexico? Years ago we used to get rather large vases, plates and bowls, that had a nice light green color (think old glass Coke bottle green) that were pretty cheap...

Thanks Ricky, and good luck with this.

There's a bazillion of those types of business in New Mexico.

But I will tell you- I'm with Mark- I LOVE recycled mexican glass. Yes they are recycled coke bottles.
You should really consider looking into that. Just be careful when you go to Mexico.

I bought some stuff from a place out of Corpus Christi (Blux glass) and I really love it.
I love that the glass is recycled and the inks are non toxic. My customers like that too.

I'd be afraid of a vase that weighs 10 lbs.

We are being careful......we are all too familiar with those horror stories.....in fact, one of my business partners has an uncle who lost an aquaintance to the cartels activities. From what we have been told, the cartel broke into their hotel room and proceeded to decapitate the man with a machete then killed his wife and kids after they watched their dad being executed. It's all drug and border patrol related. It is quite an experience going through the border checkpoint.

Ricky, please be very careful.

With my first shop 30+ years ago, we would go to Nuevo Laredo cross over the so called border (line in the sand) and instantly be in Mexico and accosted by small children and teens who would offer to watch our car from being stripped, for money of course, then we were followed constantly to the shops along the street. The feeling of danger was viseral and that was 30+ years ago. I would never go anywhere near the mexican border towns now.

Just about a month ago, a young couple on vacation at a lake that borders Texas and Mexico, were attacked by drug cartel boats. The husband was shot and killed (brutally murdered) and wife barely got away. An official investigating was decapitated by the cartel as a warning to stop the investigation. Please people are crazy.

We brought in all manner of wrought iron work and sold it. It was incredibly cheap way back then. I think if I were you, I'd try to work with locals to bring it over and as far away from the border as possible, then take it from there.

Not to be a downer, we just want you around for a long long time to come. Luv ya!

Carolyn

Will keep on the lookout for Mexican recycled glass.........I too have fond memories of that glass. Fun to work with, heavy and sturdy, and with just a few flowers, really made an impact.
