Just got a call from a Teleflora rep., wanting to know if I was still with 1800Flowers. Answered NO! Great she said. Teleflora has a new campaign that they want to introduce, 6 months free membership, can cancell at anytime during 6 months with no hassle. Told her I wasn't interested. But wait, this is a new campaign she said. We are trying to reintroduce the consumer to the LOCAL FLORIST. Our campaign will feature handmade, hand delivered bouquets from a REAL LOCAL FLORIST. With more Florist to Florist orders. Wanting to educate the consumer to the difference between the 1800's and drop shippers that are out there and doing business with a REAL LOCAL FLORIST. Still not interested. I am wire servie free and it works for me. Of course I had to hear about the $4.00 rebate, like I'll get rich off of that. Has anyone else had this call? :hammer:

Our call offered free membership for 6 months & only $99 after that, the ability to drop membership at any time without penalty, a free selection guide and workbook, and a free case of fall containers. There was some mention of local florists, but no rebate incentive was offered. No thanks! We just got out of TF after taking one of their free offers last fall.

Hmmm...interesting...now I'm not a member, but I am a fan of TF and still believe they could slay the others if Jack would just listen to me lol

That said, maybe their new campaign is a move in that direction...but until TF.com stops taking any orders and give out local florists web addresses and phone numbers....well you know....don't hold your breath

I disagree Boss

I disagree with you Boss. Why do you have to have it all rather then getting any wire service to move in the direction of a florists benefit.

If Teleflora is calling up and saying those kinds of things, upper management is hearing what we are saying. You run a company and you understand that in order for you to change your businesses direction it has to be done in smaller steps.

And what you are saying is that because they aren't giving you everything you want, you would rather stay with the company that says" screw the florists"

Although its a move in our direction on Teleflora part its not nearly enough. Also I find it interesting they are using the term Real Local Florist I believe Boss own the rights to realflorist.com?

the same yada yada I got last spring. Free trial, $99/mo for the next three months......did they say it was $99 forever?? is there a member in your town already? If not, that's why the $99 offer. If there is, I'm calling to get mine dropped back to $99.00...
They always promote florist to florist, no dropship, etc.

What they are offering is: free msmbership for 6 months or until November 10, 2008. Free containers from their satin collection and free selection guide. After November a $99.00 monthly fee until Jan. 10, 2009. Please note: standard monthly fees effective Feb. 10, 2009 include $149.95 membership, $89.95 Dove, $20.00 Quality assurance.
$200.00 refundable membership deposit billed at $50.00 per month for four months starting Nov. 10, 2008. Cancellation letter due by December 1, 2008 to cancel promotional period. So in other words, $259.90 per month membership fees. No thanks, I can use that somewhere else. They will promote only hand arranged and hand delivered floral arrangements from local florist , they do not drop ship and will not advertise against our local florist in yellow pages or with mass merchandisers.
After all, ins't this the way a wire service should operate?

What say you to that?

Or do they?

Given the other thread which indicates a relationship with Proflowers I am confused. I do not see how they can say they are florist focussed if they have anything to do with a couriered product. This intrigues me given what is going on in the UK.

But in the same expensive codified or specialty containers? There are simply too many TF containers, specialty containers, etc. Why not have a campaign featuring a pretty everyday bouquet in a C99 vase? Then I'd take them seriously.

Thats kewl sfox...but I agree with YOU :dunno:

Okay I'll play this game.

Teleflora I know your watching. Make the move and get rid the OG that continues to devalue its orders in order to compete with its competition. You know us real florist. Get all of your members to agree upon prices that are set to fill your products. Devise a plan that includes technology to control required price points based upon location because we all know a dozen roses cost more in New York then they do in Klamath Falls Oregon. Or do they?

Teleflora bring quality orders back to the sending and receiving because I am sick and tired of consumers thinking its okay to spend $150.00 on blue jeans but a dozen red roses is only worth $19.99 and you receive 12 more free.

Day by Day, bit by bit!

Personally, I think their new CEO is starting to see the handwriting on his wall.

Sadly, they fired Greg Coccari, a REAL FLORIST FRIENDLY CEO, and went on to hire KLINKO, who didn't have a clue. He thought he was still running a cruise line with a captive guest list, who couldn't jump ship, once he put them out to sea.

Perhaps, their new CEO gets the drift of just where the good ship, the USS REAL FLORISTS intends to sail, with or without any of them as our cruise director.

Facts be known, the vast majority of REAL FLORISTS are getting it, and they have no intention of any WS DOG wagging their tails.

If he's SMART, he will divest himself of the OGs, the NON-LOCAL PHONIES and all of the SKIMMERS, albeit CLOAKED under the names of FU FLOWERS and JUST FLOWERS or any other INTERLOPER who has invaded our industry and comes in between the REAL FLORISTS and their customers with their 100% SALES and 100% $ERVICE CHARGES.

To make the statement that: All of our orders are filled by REAL FLORISTS is a weak attempt on his part to placate any real florist who fills their orders, other than for other real florists.

The full statement should read: All of our orders are filled by REAL FLORISTS at a discount of 30% plus NOTHING for their COST OF DELIVERY, in addition to our ORDER ACQUISITION CHARGES which must be factored as an additional percentage of per order discount, when those florists consider the annual dues and fees they pay, to ACQUIRE OUR DISCOUNTED ORDERS.

As BOSS posted: If you're in my local telephone book then, YOU CAN FILL YOUR OWN ORDERS!

Otherwise, BEGONE! YOU HAVE NO POWER HERE!
