I have just been working way too much. A little bird just told me about an upcoming IPO at FTD. Does anyone know anything about this?

I see it as inevitable, and perhaps at Teleflora too, but thats another story.

As to FTD, an IPO is the only way I see Green and Co. have, for any hope at all of recovering the more than $200MM they over paid for the company. I'll bet Perry Group ran laughing all the way to the bank.

Let see, Perry bought FTD for about $160MM and 7 years later sold it for $400MM or there abouts. A feat that is not likely to be duplicated. Next, Green and Co. try to match the average 10% ROI that Perry realized, but here they have a HUGE problem. Not only are florist revenues dropping, more and more florists are getting educated, and limiting their exposure to FTD (and TF too). Fewer will be buying wire service technology, fewer will be buying "branded" containers, fewer will be joining, hence lower revenues.

Green most likely saw FTD as a buy it/run it/sell it thing, with short term gain, but this time, the florists are not likely to support an IPO by buying shares like they did the first time around.

It will happen, might work, might not, my guess is NOT!

Thanks Boss, for the info. I just hadn't read or heard anything about this till last night.

Hey Sweets....

Would like my take on this.....?

Sure....go right ahead........

Since FTD is privately owned, the officers and directors are obligated to maximize profit and maximize the value (worth) of the company. What is good FTD ownership is not necessarily good for its member florists.

If FTD can generate extra capital by offering stock, then they should do it.

Their IPO'g is meaningless to me, because I do not intend to buy their stock.

I have a lot of other issues with FTD but that was not your inquiry.

My question for you is, "Does FTD operate in the best interest of its dues paying members?"

Cheers
Joe
