after being "head-hunted".

In October the H.R. person at Angelos Italian Bakery and Deli (family business of 49 years with two, soon to be three locations in the city), called to "pick" my brain. He's a friend of mine from the floral industry and knew I was really unhappy where I was.

He told me they were looking to set up an actual gourmet basket department to build and promote a standardized basket programme. They needed a "creative person to drive this project". Happily, after a very speedy interview process, it was decided I fit the bill.

They would meet my financial requirements, with opportunities for advancement within the company. I accepted the offer before leaving the building. :)

My team did an awesome job over Christmas and we exceeded expectations, and were rewarded for it... imagine that. I can't begin to tell you how great it is to go to work with a happy heart, mind and tummy. The pay cheque is great, but the verbal appreciation is right up there.

I'm still on call for my floral friends, and the holiday times (other than Christmas) are booked well ahead, so I'm still feeding that side of my creative spirit.

I'm hoping that if any of you require gourmet baskets, you will give me a call. I would be more than happy to help. We carry a wide selection of gourmet basket designs, chock full of delicious sweet and savory treats (many European flavours); all with attractive price points.

Me and the ZOO CREW

kinda "funny" rhetoric....

I kinda FIGURED something was up with you Victoria, seemed that cloak and dagger was NOT well suited to you, BUT,
looks to me like you've made the move that will influence the NEXT episode in the "V" diaries, and hope you won't forget that most of us here are "REALLY HAPPY" for you, and those that AREN'T, well, are probably just kinda jealous!!
Don't forget that with no risk, there is no reward!!
You'd be SOOO well suited to my grand schemes in Puntarenas, and Guanacaste.....

Congratulations, you sound excited and new moves are always exciting.
Don't be a stranger here now...

Thanks Jon... no I won't be a stranger. :) I"m still in flowers to a degree and I may be in it again full time down the road. It's not possible to give up something I love totally. I just need a breath of fresh air from the last experience.

:) MIke, I didn't want to say anything until the 3 months was up. What I really wanted to do was announce it the day it happened... but discretion won out.

I love Guanacaste area... do I need to brush up on my Spanish? I'm open to new adventures.

Thanks for the congrats and the understanding Mike.

Congratulations and best wishes, Victoria. Don't stop posting here!

Congrats, V!! I know you'll do an awesome job there. They are very fortunate to have you.

So I'm wondering ... how long until you have a fully functioning gourmet drop-ship option? Something where us florists can sell you products on our website and have you prepare and overnight them to the recipient. Big potential there if the pieces come together.

;) You fell in to my plan Ryan. We have no real web presence at all (which blows my mind). That is part of the plan. I would love the opportunity to pick your brain too.

Thanks for the support... you know how much it's appreciated.

OH My Gawd!!!! You're right! No wait... unless it came over on a ship from Europe I can't use it... although, I'm sure some Europeans use it (for wall paper paste)..

Please please please, keep those ideas bubbling away (in the pot with the dam n cereal) and send them along at will. :)

Which is one of the many reason you are so respected on this board - grace, reason and discretion. :)

Congratulations on you new adventure, Victoria. Your new company is fortunate to have you.

Victoria - in closing my shop after 32 years, I used your Maya Angelou quote
at the bottom of my going out of business posters and letters to customers,
adding "...hope we made you happy!" We received a lot of positive feedback
from that. Thanks for making me aware of it and thank you for your positive attitude.
