Hi everyone. This is my introduction as a new member. I live in Washington State and purchased a new flower shop a little over 2 years ago. I had no experience in floral but always wanted my own shop. WOW! Was I in for a surprise. The first thing I did was get rid of the wire "ball and chains" save one for sending out orders. That will be falling by the wayside soon, also. I love this business and hope to really make a go of it. It has been interesting...to say the least. I am from a very rural area with a troubled economy, just like the rest of the US. But I'm hopeful things will turn around soon. I'm looking forward to learning more and finding my way around the Flower Chat. It looks to be a wealth of information.

Hi Holly:
I kept the Bloomlink. It was the least expensive monthly as I only send 4 or 5 a month. I do florist to florist and that works out well. Most florists don't give a percentage, so I generally do it as a service. My website is simplyflowers4u.com. Was it suppose to show up in my new user info? I guess I need to wait until I'm voted in to continue?

Welcome!

I also made the decision to only keep Bloomlink and I am quickly regretting that also. Since they AGAIN raised fees across their fee schedule they have priced me out of that game. I have used florist to florist successfully in the past and will continue to do so. I currently have a call into my Bloomlink rep to drop their service. I ran the numbers on a spreadsheet to have some concrete arguments to give my rep and found that I lose money on every order I take unless I impose a $100 minimum and then I make about $80 on 8 orders! I am a small market shop and clearly their fee schedule is not geared towards the little guys. I have attempted to drop them several times and they always credit hundreds of dollars on my statement to keep me but the fight is getting old to just get fair treatment. I am done. I caught some wrath in another thread about how I handle WS customers and minimums. After reviewing my policies and taking the wrath to heart, I am changing those policies and minimums to better accommodate my florist to florist business instead of feeding any WS. Good luck to you. I also was new to this business just 3 short years ago and continue to learn.

Hi there. I'm sorry for the delay in responding. I am Flower Chat challenged as this is new to me and i'm not sure what exactly I need to do.

How did you change your minimums? What was the problem with what you were doing before? Was the $100 minimum too high? What is your minimum now?
THanks in advance for the answers. Also, any insight anyone can give me to move around this website would be appreciated. Somehow I thought I couldn't view other threads until I was voted in. Not sure if I need to do something about that. Thanks.

My husband and I love Sequim. We went to a couple of lavender growers in that area a couple of years ago. We were visiting our son in Edmonds.
Welcome
