Hi, I am a new member located in northern IL. I purchased an existing shop last year and am trying to bring it back to its former good reputation that was lost. Any suggestions on marketing, etc. would be appreciated.
Anyway, the history of the shop is that 2 brothers started a nursery & florist 30 years ago. The brother that ran the florist left and started his own shop in another town. He had a great reputation and there were some really good designers at that time. Since then, the other brother has only focused on the nursery and just let the florist business trickle away by not having trained dedicated designers on staff. Other than yellow pages, there has been no marketing efforts.
I have been focusing on improving the quality of the designs going out the door as my first priority. Now I need to increase the quantity and get back some of the business in town.
You might want to start going around to the local businesses and(re) introducing the shop/yourself to them. Take a small arrangement with you to have them put on their counter to enjoy.(Have your business card in the arr or a few gift cards ).
